Position Summary:
Plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels. Responsible for your safety and others working under your leadership. Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of material. Provides access for future maintenance, and avoids unsightly hazardous and unreliable wiring. Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, follows diagrams or blue prints to ensure that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Observes functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and needs for adjustments, relocation or replacement. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical and compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer and oscilloscope. May repair faulty equipment or systems along with other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Valid City of Asheville Journey Electricians License.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the electrical field including experience with conduit systems and three phase wiring.
  • Capable of supervising one or two helpers or apprentices.
  • Must have knowledge of local electrical codes.
  • Must have a positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance.
  • Must be able to get along with fellow workers, other tradesman on the job site, inspectors, customers, and the public.
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds of conduit or wire, work raising both arms overhead while standing on ladders or aerial lifts to install conduit, lighting fixtures, safely use hand tools and power tools.
  • Properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
