Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Perishable/Dairy Manager is responsible for managing the overall daily operations
of the Perishable Grocery department. Responsibilities include supervising and training associates,
keeping controllable costs low, and ensuring product quality remains satisfactory. Also, this role should
be the department leader in all aspects of business and contribute to the store's overall success.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide efficient and courteous service to customers.
  • Supervise, train, and develop qualified Dairy/Frozen Food department associates.
  • Order and maintain inventory levels according to the departments' daily needs.
  • Attending weekly department head meetings scheduled by the Store Manager.
  • Prepare work schedules for Dairy/Frozen Food associates on an orderly and systematic basis.
  • Enforce and maintain all KVAT Food Safety policies and procedures.
  • Enforce and maintain the company HACCP program and COOL standards.
  • Ensure product meets quality and freshness standards.
  • Maintain all departmental paperwork and keep accurate records.
  • Assist in the interviewing process for potential new associates.
  • Communicate with Store Manager to ensure labor costs remain under control.
  • Ensure all merchandise is in its proper location according to shelf allocation established by management.
  • Check incoming products, ensuring that all merchandise is in good condition and the correct items/quantities were delivered.
  • Check the shelf label of each item to ensure pricing accuracy.
  • Inspect and rotate stock daily to ensure product freshness and quality.
  • Remove all damaged products from the sales floor as needed.
  • Ensure the stockroom area is neat and clean.
  • Properly remove and dispose of all trash.
  • Stack products and supplies in stockroom and freezers in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
  • Ensure efficient and courteous customer service to store locations in support of the company mission to "Run the Best Store in Town!"
  • Responsible for attending on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Abundant knowledge and experience with Dairy/Frozen Food operations, policies, and procedures.
  • High degree of analytical skills, and the ability to delegate and be self-directed.
  • Ability to take leadership role in training and coaching team members on skills needed to adequately perform job duties.
  • Must be comfortable working in refrigerated areas of the store.
  • Adhere to KVAT food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and follow KVAT dress code.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact with customers of various socioeconomic levels. This includes vendors, guests, and KVAT corporate representatives.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks, and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals daily.
  • Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.
