Scope of Work: The Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC LANT) Cloud Computing Innovation, Transformation, and Integration (CLOUD CITI) Division is tasked with providing hosting environments and platforms for Navy applications, as well as other DoD and Homeland Security (HLS) applications utilizing both Component Enterprise Data Centers (CEDCs) and Commercial Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) as hosting platforms. As part of this program, Modus21 is seeking a highly skilled Citrix Systems Engineer to join our team and manage complex IT infrastructures for critical Department of the Navy systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Citrix technologies, Windows, Active Directory, PowerShell, and/or DNS, with hands-on experience managing server environments in both physical and virtualized data centers including commercial cloud providers. You will implement and maintain rigorous security protocols in accordance with DoD standards, automate system administration tasks, and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the reliability and performance of these mission-critical systems. Responsibilities:
Build, configure, and deploy Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) systems.
Manage system configurations, enforce security standards (such as DISA STIGs), and patch servers across customer environments using WSUS, Group Policy, and Powershell.
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot CVAD components on Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022 environments, ensuring uptime and optimal performance.
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Citrix NetScalers (physical and virtual).
Maintain and upgrade Windows servers, applying necessary security measures to ensure compliance with DISA and DOD standards.
Troubleshoot connectivity issues across Windows systems and collaborate on customer application support.
Collaborate with storage and virtualization teams to optimize system performance and resource allocation.
Contribute to the documentation of server environments and processes using SharePoint and other documentation tools.
Manage change requests, incidents, and service tickets through ServiceNow and Jira.
Participate in an on-call rotation to address critical system issues.
Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, provide exceptional technical support, and offer professional advice on system upgrades and design.
Collaborate effectively with other internal teams, particularly within the DC2HS. Division, using the Agile process and Jira for Kanban or Sprint process management.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools, with a particular emphasis on PowerShell, to streamline system administration tasks. Required Skills: Strong experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops/NetScaler and Windows Server Technologies Expertise in managing DISA STIGs, patching, and securing Citrix and Windows environments.
Proficiency in PowerShell for automation and system management.
In-depth knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy
Strong documentation skills for both technical and process documentation.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Requirements/Experience:
Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems
Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance
Must obtain CompTIA Security+ certification within six (6) months of hire
Citrix Certified Associate, Professional, or Expert certifications
Ability to follow procedures accurately and escalate issues appropriately
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Motivated to learn new technologies and grow technical expertise
Must be a US citizen and hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) TOP SECRET Security Clearance
