Job description

News Reporter
The Citizen is looking for a reporter to work with its award-winning staff in Auburn.
We cover the Cayuga County area of Central New York, which along with the city of Auburn includes several rural areas and lakeside villages.
The newspaper prints three times a week, but our main priority is producing content for our website, auburnpub.com.
Our ideal candidate will have some storytelling experience and enthusiasm for small-town journalism. Applicable skills include news writing, interviewing, copy editing, taking photos and video, and familiarity with social media.
You would be covering a mix of topics, including but not limited to local government, business, crime, and arts and culture.
We are looking for someone to work a schedule of Sundays through Thursdays, though we have some flexibility there. Hours are also flexible, but generally morning to early evening.
You would have the option of working in our office, but our staff is mostly remote, so could work remotely as well.
Completion of a bachelor's or master's program in journalism and/or some experience working at a news publication is preferred.
Along with your resume, please include a cover letter and at least three writing samples, ideally ones that have been published.
