Cissp Director information

What is a CISSP Director?

A CISSP Director is a senior-level cybersecurity professional who holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification and is responsible for overseeing an organization’s information security strategy. This role typically involves managing security teams, developing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations, and safeguarding sensitive data from cyber threats. CISSP Directors collaborate with executive leadership to align security initiatives with business goals, respond to incidents, and oversee risk management activities. Their expertise helps ensure that the organization’s information assets are protected and that security best practices are consistently implemented.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CISSP Director?

To thrive as a CISSP Director, you need deep expertise in information security principles, risk management, and security governance, typically validated by a CISSP certification and extensive experience in cybersecurity leadership. Familiarity with industry standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, as well as security architecture tools and incident response systems, is crucial. Outstanding leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills set top candidates apart by enabling them to guide teams and influence organizational security culture. These skills are essential to protect critical assets, ensure compliance, and drive robust cybersecurity programs across the enterprise.

How does a CISSP Director typically collaborate with other departments to strengthen organizational cybersecurity?

A CISSP Director works closely with various departments such as IT, legal, HR, and executive leadership to develop and enforce security policies and protocols. They often facilitate cross-functional meetings to assess risks, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and address security concerns across the organization. Effective communication and collaboration are essential, as the CISSP Director must translate technical risks into business impacts to gain buy-in from stakeholders. This role is pivotal in fostering a security-first culture and aligning cybersecurity strategies with organizational goals.

Job description

Director of IT
Location: Remote (candidate needs to be based in the US preferably CONUS)
Reports to: President of Platforms
Employment Type: Full-Time
The Company
Client is a global company turning complexity into strength across defense, innovation, and national security. In an era of fragmented power, contested alliances, and accelerating technological change, we build systems that help governments and innovators move faster-together.
We operate at the intersection of defense, technology, and capital-connecting companies to government demand, accelerating adoption of critical technologies, and reducing the structural barriers that slow progress. Our work strengthens resilience, advances network sovereignty, and creates compounding advantage across the systems that matter most.
We are not observers of these challenges-we build the infrastructure that replaces what no longer works.
The Role
We are hiring a Director of IT to architect, build, and operate the internal systems that power a rapidly scaling, multi-entity platform.
This is not a maintenance role. You will define how IT enables speed, security, and integration across a company growing through acquisition and operating in high-stakes, regulated environments.
You will own the design and execution of a unified technology ecosystem-integrating disparate companies, standardizing where it matters, and preserving flexibility where it creates advantage.
This role is pivotal in managing IT systems during growth phases, including M&A integrations, while prioritizing security, innovation, and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in Microsoft enterprise environments and a forward-thinking approach to incorporating emerging technologies like AI.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the overall IT strategy, roadmap, and budget to support business growth, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Oversee the integration of acquired companies' technology stacks into a unified operating platform, minimizing disruptions and maximizing synergies during M&A activities.
  • Manage enterprise-wide IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud services, and applications, with a focus on Microsoft ecosystems (e.g., Azure, Office 365, Active Directory, and related tools).
  • Lead information security initiatives, including risk assessments, compliance programs, incident response, and implementation of best practices to protect sensitive financial data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and integrate AI and agentic tools (e.g., machine learning models, automation agents) to enhance operational efficiency, decision-making, and client services.
  • Ensure IT compliance with industry regulations, including those relevant to defense contractors (e.g., CMMC, ITAR, or similar frameworks) where applicable.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and trends in asset management IT, recommending solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements to optimize cost and performance.
  • The use of MDM in remote applications to track company-issued devices and enforce corporate policies.
  • The use of VPN and endpoint security on company-issued devices, e.g. CrowdStrike
  • Development and enforcement of IT policies to standardize the use of approved IT tools, security, and compliance.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience in complex, multi-entity organizations, ideally within financial services or asset management.
  • Proven track record in M&A technology integrations, including migrating disparate tech stacks to a common platform.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft enterprise environments, including Azure cloud services, Windows Server, Exchange, and security tools.
  • Strong background in information security, with knowledge of frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, or similar, and experience in implementing cybersecurity measures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IT requirements for defense contractors, such as compliance with DFARS, CMMC, or other government-related standards.
  • Demonstrated success in integrating AI, machine learning, or agentic tools (e.g., autonomous agents for workflow automation) into organizational processes.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect.
  • Familiarity with asset management-specific tools (e.g., portfolio management systems, CRM platforms like Salesforce integrated with Microsoft).
