Job description

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to support a government-focused organization. This position is onsite and requires an active Top Secret clearance. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced network security architectures, with a strong emphasis on Cisco and Juniper technologies. Responsibilities for the Senior Network Security Engineer include: * Design, implement, and optimize firewall and IPS rule structures to ensure security standards are maintained
* Monitor, maintain, and improve the health and performance of firewalls and intrusion prevention systems (IPS)
* Plan and coordinate enterprise-wide network security initiatives and solutions
* Develop and maintain documentation, schematics, and procedures related to network security infrastructure
* Research, evaluate, test, and implement new security technologies and tools
* Support network engineering teams with expert-level security guidance
* Lead migrations from Cisco ASA to Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) environments
Required Qualifications for the Senior Network Security Engineer include: * 10+ years of overall IT experience
* Bachelor's degree in a related field (strongly preferred)
* Hands-on experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), including upgrades, deployment, and licensing
* Proven experience with Cisco Firepower and ASA to FTD migrations
* Strong knowledge of Cisco 802.1X deployment and authentication frameworks
* Experience designing and deploying DMVPN (CNSSP-15 compliant) and Juniper ADVPN
* Solid understanding of routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP
* Active Top Secret security clearance (required)
Preferred Certifications: * CCNP Security
* CCNP Enterprise (Routing & Switching)
* CCDP
