Job description

Our client, a leading government contractor, is in need of a Senior Network Security Engineer for a 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity in Washington, DC. This person will work onsite daily, and will support network security operations with a focus on firewall, IPS, Cisco ISE, Cisco Firepower, ASA to Firepower Threat Defense migration, routing protocols, and secure network architecture.
This role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, maintaining, and improving the organization's network security environment. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with Cisco security technologies, firewall/IPS rule design, network security documentation, and routing protocols in a highly secure government environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement information security solutions across the network environment
  • Analyze technical requirements and evaluate potential solutions for feasibility
  • Design, optimize, and maintain firewall and IPS rule structures
  • Monitor and maintain the health of firewalls and IPS platforms
  • Recommend network security improvements based on performance, security posture, and operational needs
  • Develop and maintain firewall/IPS procedures and technical documentation
  • Create and maintain complex network security diagrams and schematics
  • Research, evaluate, recommend, design, test, and implement new network security technologies
  • Provide technical support and guidance to network engineering teams
  • Ensure network security standards and best practices are maintained

Required Skills:
  • 10+ years of IT experience
  • Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI
  • Strong hands-on network security engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), including upgrades, licensing, maintenance, and deployment
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Firepower, including upgrades, maintenance, and deployment
