Paraeducator - Media Assistant

Paraeducatorย Media Assistant position for assignment located at Torrington High School (grades 9-12)

Job Summary and Functions:

Performs varied duties in the circulation of library resources in a school Media Center. Assists students and staff in using library/media facilities, equipment, resources and services and performs varied tasks associated with library/media work. Provides task supervision to student helpers and to volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree and/or 60 college credits or successful passing of the Para-Pro Exam.
  • Previous experience working in a school setting or with groups of children preferred.

Terms of Employment:ย 10-month schedule, 184ย work days, 35 hours per week. Starting pay in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement is $19.15ย per hour, with comprehensive medical benefit package andย tuition reimbursement.ย ย 

Internal Applicants: Regular employees of the Torrington Public Schools who are current members of the Paraeducators' union. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, "Paraeducators shall not be eligible to apply for lateral positions that become vacant after August 15th. Notwithstanding the preceding sentence, paraeducators shall be eligible to apply for promotional opportunities at any time."ย
