About the Job
 

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Minnesota is seeking a board-certified/eligible Pediatric Cardiology Physician at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank.

Join our team of 20 Cardiologists dedicated to providing outstanding innovative pediatric heart care, education, and research. The Pediatric Heart Transplant program is over 35 years old with a long history of Pediatric Heart Transplants at the University of Minnesota. The program has grown exponentially in the last several years. As a result of the growth in the program, we are recruiting a second, Heart Failure/Transplant cardiologist. Our Heart Center utilizes a comprehensive team of CV intensivists, care coordinators, cardiologists, and surgeonsall within a true childrens hospital setting, on a leading academic campus. We currently have 3 Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgeons with high-level of expertise in repairs of congenital heart defects, pediatric mechanical circulatory support, and pediatric heart transplants.

The Department / Division is seeking an individual with a strong interest in Pediatric Heart
Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Devices and Pediatric Heart Transplant who will join our
Medical Director of Heart Failure/Transplant/VAD.

Participate in pre-and post-transplant cardiac evaluation and treatment of cardiomyopathies and
heart failure due to different etiologies.

This position may include general pediatric cardiology care in/at University of Minnesota
Masonic Childrens Hospital and/or outreach clinics in the metro area.

Depending on expertise, the position may also participate in echocardiographic interpretation, and inpatient and outpatient service.

Additional responsibilities will include: participation in the teaching of medical students,
residents, and fellows and participation in service activities on behalf of the department, the
medical school, and the candidates profession.

Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidates area of specialty/research experience with a goal of developing collaborative or independent, externally funded research.
 

Qualifications
 

Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited ACGME Pediatric residency and Pediatric Cardiology fellowship
training programs

Board-certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology

Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure

Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota

Pioneering Legacy: The program has a rich history of "firsts" in cardiac care, including performing the world's first successful open-heart surgery using hypothermia (1952) and cross-circulation (1954) as well as Minnesota's first successful pediatric heart transplant (1981). This legacy of innovation continues today, highlighted by several recent, critical achievements: Worlds first repair of a ventricular-septal defect Worlds first repair of tetralogy of Fallot First in Minnesota to implant a Berlin Heart EXCOR pediatric ventricular-assist device 

Education: The Division is home to an established, ACGME-accredited Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program, committed to training the next generation of academic leaders in the subspecialty. 

Research & Innovation: Leveraging the University of Minnesota's deep research tradition (including the Lillehei Heart Institute), the Division is actively engaged in clinical and translational research across a broad spectrum of conditions, including congenital heart disease, heart failure, electrophysiology, and cardiovascular risk factors (e.g., metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia). Faculty-led research efforts result in numerous high-impact publications annually, supporting access to breakthrough clinical trials not available elsewhere. Pay Range: $253,600; depending on education/qualifications/experience 

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
