Job description

ASRC Federal System Solutions, LLC, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Technical Control Analyst (Associate Telecommunications Engineer) in Colorado Springs, CO, supporting the Wing Information and Communication Support (WICS 2) Technical Control Facility (TCF) at Schriever Space Force Base.

The Technical Control Analyst is responsible for analyzing, managing, and optimizing telecommunications circuits and network operations supporting mission-critical systems. This role exercises independent judgment in monitoring network performance, identifying and resolving degraded conditions, restoring disrupted communications, and implementing alternate routing strategies to maintain operational continuity. The Analyst directs and coordinates corrective actions necessary to ensure effective and reliable telecommunications services.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan, evaluate, and design configurations and reconfigurations of data and voice communication networks, including LAN, WAN, and VPN environments.
  • Analyze network performance trends and recommend improvements supporting short- and long-term operational objectives, including cloud-based systems.
  • Exercise independent judgment in diagnosing and resolving complex network and circuit issues, including real-time restoration of critical communications.
  • Lead or coordinate implementation of hardware and software solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and related infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners (e.g., third-party vendors, DISA, commercial carriers) to resolve issues and implement system enhancements.

Additional Workload and Cross-Utilization Responsibilities:

This role includes responsibility for supporting multiple mission systems (e.g., GBSOC and SDIN), requiring the ability to prioritize competing operational demands and make escalation decisions impacting system availability. The Analyst evaluates system conditions, determines appropriate response actions, and coordinates with engineering resources as needed.

Requirements:

  • Networking Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnetting, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP.
    • Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
    • Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Wireshark
    • Basic understanding of firewalls, VPNs, and security best practices.
    • Able to make critical circuit priority judgement independently and equipment/circuit restoral decisions with little or no supervision
  • Documentation & Analysis:
    • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in mission-critical environments.
  • Able to make real-time operational decisions impacting network availability and performance with minimal supervision.
  • Able to assess risk and determine appropriate corrective actions in high-availability network and mission systems

Work Schedule:

  • Must be available for rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Shifts rotate on a scheduled basis to maintain 24/7 mission support.
  • Flexibility, dependability, and a strong sense of mission focus are essential due to the critical nature of operations.

 

Preferred Experience:

Candidates with the following are highly desired:

  • Experience working in a Technical Control Facility (TCF) or similar mission-critical network environment.
  • Familiarity with circuit provisioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Skilled in cable flows and signal routing, especially in Building 400, MOD 3/4 at Schriever SFB.
  • Experience using patch panels, fiber distribution panels, and other cross-connect systems.
  • Knowledge of timing and synchronization distribution systems.
  • Proficient in using test equipment such as T-BERD or Fireberd for circuit continuity and diagnostics.
  • Experience coordinating with DISA, commercial carriers, and documenting circuit status and changes.
  • Working knowledge of COMSEC and KG encryptors.
  • Familiarity with Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) standards and procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 0 – 2 years’ experience. Additional experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Certifications:
    • CompTIA Security+ Required
    • CompTIA Network+ Preferred
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Preferred
    • Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA). Preferred
    • Must meet DoD 8570 requirements (e.g., CompTIA Security+).  
  • Clearance:
    • Must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance
