Job description

This is a part-time position at 20 hours per week.

The College of Arts & Sciences at Boston University seeks a highly organized and collaborative Part-Time Program Manager to support the Cinema & Media Studies (CIMS) Program. This position serves as the primary administrative contact for the program and plays a key role in coordinating academic operations, supporting faculty and students, managing communications, planning events, and overseeing program finances.
The Program Manager works closely with the Program Director, Associate Director, Director of Undergraduate Studies, faculty, and University partners to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the program.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate academic program operations, including course planning, classroom scheduling, academic calendars, and faculty support.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for faculty, students, and University offices, responding to inquiries and providing guidance on program policies and procedures.
  • Manage program communications, including newsletters, website content, and social media, ensuring timely and accurate information for students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community.
  • Plan and coordinate program events, including lectures, film screenings, workshops, guest speaker visits, and the annual commencement celebration.
  • Oversee the program budget by monitoring expenditures, processing financial transactions and reimbursements, and maintaining financial records.
  • Maintain the CIMS film lending library and equipment inventory.
  • Provide administrative support to the Program Director and Steering Committee, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and coordinating faculty appointment-related paperwork.
  • Supervise student employees and assist with hiring and onboarding as needed.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible administrative or program management experience, preferably in higher education or a similarly complex organization.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience coordinating events, managing budgets, and supporting multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn University systems and technology platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an academic environment.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems, social media platforms, and database management.
  • Interest in or familiarity with cinema, media studies, or the arts is welcomed.

This is a part-time position supporting the Cinema & Media Studies Program within Boston University's College of Arts & Sciences. The successful candidate will be a proactive, service-oriented professional who enjoys working in a collaborative academic environment and managing a wide variety of responsibilities.
