Job description

Overview

The IS PACS/RIS Administrator demonstrates a complete understanding of radiology processes and their various modalities. PACS/RIS Administrator needs to have a complete understanding of the PACS system and how these processes interface/interact with the RIS system. Responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and training radiology staff on PACS/RIS systems. Must be able to make strong professional judgments, communicate effectively, and maintain a collaborative working relationship with physicians, vendors, and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical expertise in implementing and supporting all RIS/PACS functions and for the daily operational integrity of the systems.
  • Liaison between vendors and internal groups for all PACS/RIS related systems.
  • Ensures access is available to appropriate radiologists, physicians and other users.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of PACS equipment including image workflow, archiving, auto routing, and other related activities.
  • Works with appropriate internal staff to develop backup, downtime and periodic system maintenance procedures and resolve workflow issues.
  • Acts as the key resource for operation, design and improvement of assigned systems including RIS and PACS.
  • Answers system functionality questions, resolves internal issues concerning the system and responds to requests for information from user departments, radiologists, and providers.
  • Trains users in new functions, customization, and upgrades.
  • Provides training materials, checklists and easily accessible reference guides.
  • Plays the lead role in the initial planning and implementation of the system and system expansions, replacements and upgrades
  • Assesses hardware's ability to meet timely processing of data as the database expands
  • Performs any other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years related experience and/or training.
  • 2 years related management experience.
  • CIIP, CPAS, CDIP, or CPSA certifications are preferred but not required.
