Job description

At Best Home Health Providers Inc., we've gone from treating 10 patients to thousands of patients all throughout the Bay Area and beyond in just 7 years. We've won awards for our high-quality care with patients and continue to grow rapidly. At Best, you and the patients aren't a number.

Our mission is to ensure a smooth transition for patients returning home from medical facilities by offering expert guidance throughout their recovery journey.

Are you organized, people-focused, and passionate about helping patients get the care they need? Join our team as a Clinical Interviewer and serve as the clinical interviewing expert across the organization’s home health and hospice agencies. Please note that this role would be fully remote with a monthly visit to our Hayward office. As a Clinical Interviewer, this role does not provide direct patient care and does not visit or treat patients.

We value teamwork, empathy, and a commitment to high-quality service, all aimed at putting patients and their families at ease during their recovery. If you are passionate about making a positive impact in patients' lives and working in a supportive and family-oriented atmosphere, we encourage you to join us in providing exceptional home health care.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

  • High integrity and ethics. Non-negotiable. You handle confidential information appropriately and consistently do the right thing.
  • A calming presence with sound judgment. Your decisions bring clarity and calm to the employee population rather than fueling drama.
  • A strong communicator. Clear in writing and in person, with active listening and the ability to adapt to any audience — from a new hire to a senior leader.
  • A customer service mindset. You treat employees and applicants as your customers and follow through with warmth and responsiveness.
  • Positive and flexible. You bring optimism to your work and are willing to try new tools, ideas, and approaches.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts structured clinical interviews by video conference or telephone, from an office or approved home work setting, with candidates for licensed and certified clinical positions (RN, LVN, PT, OT, SLP, MSW, and HHA) across the organization's home health and hospice agencies. This position has no patient care responsibilities and does not visit or treat patients.
  • Evaluates each candidate's clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and judgment using role-specific interview guides, competency checklists, and scenario-based questions aligned with home health and hospice standards of practice.
  • Assesses candidate familiarity with home health and hospice regulations and workflows, including OASIS and hospice assessment documentation, plan of care development, Medicare Conditions of Participation, infection control, and patient and caregiver education.
  • Documents interview findings in the applicant tracking system and delivers standardized scoring and clear hire, hold, or decline recommendations to the Talent Acquisition team and hiring managers within established turnaround times.
  • Collaborates with clinical leadership to keep interview guides, competency criteria, and scoring rubrics current with clinical practice, regulatory changes, and agency needs.
  • Applies consistent, job-related interview standards for every candidate in compliance with federal and California employment law, including the Fair Employment and Housing Act and the California Fair Chance Act, and maintains strict confidentiality of candidate information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief People Officer.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current, active, and unrestricted California license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse. Registered Nurse licensure is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year in a home health, hospice, or community health setting. Prior experience interviewing, precepting, or evaluating clinical staff is strongly preferred.
  • Must reside in the Bay Area for in-office monthly meetings.
  • Working knowledge of home health and hospice clinical practice, documentation requirements, and applicable federal and California regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate clinical competence objectively and communicate findings clearly in verbal and written form, with strong organizational skills to manage a high volume of scheduled interviews.
  • Proficiency with video conferencing platforms, applicant tracking systems, and standard office software. If working from home, must maintain a private, professional workspace with reliable high-speed internet suitable for confidential interviews.
  • Complies with accepted professional standards and practice, maintains licensure in good standing, and is able to travel occasionally to the Hayward, California office for meetings, training, and calibration sessions.
