What You'll Be Doing

We are seeking a diligent, thorough, and motivated Convertible Bond Trader to join our Equity Derivative Trading team at CIBC. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in financial markets and possess a desire to develop skills in trading, risk management, and market analysis. This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced traders and contribute to the continued success of our trading desk.

How You'll Succeed

  • Execute convertible bond and convertible preferred trades.

  • Work closely with middle-office and back-office teams to ensure accurate and timely trade execution, settlement, and reconciliation.

  • Assist in the pricing and execution of convertible-related call spreads and structured notes.

  • Monitor and analyze market conditions, including equity, credit, and interest rate movements, to identify trading opportunities.

  • Stay updated on macroeconomic trends, regulatory changes, and market developments that may impact convertible bond markets.

  • Monitor and manage risk exposure within the convertible bond portfolio.

  • Collaborate with the risk management team to ensure adherence to trading strategies and risk parameters.

  • Support sales teams in maintaining relationships with institutional clients, including hedge funds, asset managers, and proprietary trading firms.

  • Provide clients with market insights, trade ideas, and pricing information.

  • Work effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies-including Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance-to ensure compliance with CIBC's Governance and Control Framework and regulatory requirements.

Who You Are

  • Expert knowledge of trading and products

  • Good macro-economic understanding of the relevant economies

  • Degree educated, with at least 5 - 10 years' experience in desk's specific area of Trading.

  • Strong knowledge of financial markets, credit and market risk in order to effectively structure trades and to evaluate risk.

  • Strong interpersonal and impact and influence skills in order to capitalize on business opportunities.

  • Demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction.

  • In-depth understanding of governance and regulatory requirements

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $150,000-$225,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee's needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Additional total compensation and benefits details will be provided during the hiring process.
