What You'll Be Doing

As part of the Private Placement team, you will become an integral part of the fabric of CIBC's New York based debt capital markets team. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring you to effectively process information in the course of originating and executing transactions in a constantly changing market environment. The successful candidate will therefore need to adapt to these conditions with creativity, energy and an entrepreneurial spirit in order to meet the evolving demands of the marketplace.

How You'll Succeed

Our DCM business provides Analysts with an opportunity to gain applicable experience in the U.S. private placement debt issuance and advisory business. Analysts will need to be effective communicators capable of building relationships internally, with clients and with investors. As an Analyst, you will have the responsibility of drafting pitch decks, comparable lists and market overview presentations. Additionally, you will provide detailed analytics, financial modeling, structuring, research and transaction support to senior professionals in your business, helping to win business and execute transactions.

  • Undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline; DCM/Private Placement experience preferred

  • Knowledge of business, economics and/or finance acquired through education and experience

  • Strong interest in, and knowledge of, financial markets

  • Strong technical, computational and analytical skills

  • An understanding of credit analysis and accounting principles

  • Detail-oriented, able to think logically and grasp complex concepts

  • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently

  • Proven ability to contribute to high performance teams

  • Willing to work extended hours in a high pressure/high reward environment

  • Ability to take initiative on projects

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $115,000 - $135,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee's needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
