Overview
Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Associate to support the Investment Analytics group. This group supports project valuation, risk management, and investment decisions throughout the development lifecycle. This role will provide an opportunity to develop expertise in energy asset development & strategy, project finance, and power markets in an exciting, high-growth environment with a leading national independent power producer. This role also has the potential to provide rotational opportunities and direct transaction experience with the CCR Structured Finance and M&A teams.
This role will be based out of either our New York City or San Francisco office.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Associate on the Investment Analytics team at Cypress Creek Renewables, your primary responsibility will be to manage the team's efforts in project valuation. The Senior Associate will report the Director, Investment Analytics and support the group through functions including:
  • Solar, storage, and natural gas/firm generation asset valuation and project finance modeling, including expected project value and forecasted capital sources including project debt and tax equity
  • Design and development of a financial model to be used by all groups within the CIO vertical (M&A, Structured Finance, Investment analytics, etc.) for the purposes of project valuation modeling to be used for investment decisions
  • Support of development strategy and market entry, including identification of project sensitivities and key drivers of project value
  • Transaction support for project financings and asset acquisitions & sales
  • Development of investment recommendation memos evaluating project risk & return profiles
  • Portfolio valuation and development pipeline analysis
  • Ownership of underwriting assumptions including consolidation of information from internal experts, consensus building, and communication to executive team
  • Support growth and efficiency within the Investment Analytics team by supervising work done by junior team members and improving processes for higher throughput of deliverables
  • Collaboration with other teams, including engineering, development, and fleet, to develop a valuation thesis for all key markets

Education & Experience Required
  • BA/BS degree in computer science, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in energy finance or project valuation (investment banking, project finance, or corporate M&A experience is a plus)
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing financial models with a focus on meeting the analytical needs of multiple teams (M&A, Structured Finance, Investment Analytics, etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of energy markets and a variety of energy technologies, with a focus on solar, storage, and natural gas
  • Thorough understanding of discounted cash flow valuation concepts and debt/tax equity financing structures
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial analysis to non-financial stakeholders
  • Exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills, and demonstrated skill working with unstructured datasets
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment
  • Organized, diligent, and able to manage multiple streams of information on an ongoing basis

Location: This is a hybrid position with preference for CCR's San Francisco or NYC office; with 3 days a week in office.
Compensation: The salary range for the position is $150-170k, plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside this range depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.
