Senior Pastor Search Committee
We will endeavor prayerfully to select a prospective pastor to present to the Church

Senior Pastor Position Posting

First Baptist Church of Bolivar, Missouri (FBC) is prayerfully seeking God’s leadership in searching for God’s man as its next senior pastor who will lead it, under the Holy Spirit’s guidance, in finding focused ways to fulfill the church’s vision and mission.

Bolivar is a small town (approx. 11,000 population) with a large footprint. In addition to FBC, Bolivar is the home of Southwest Baptist University as well as Citizens Memorial Hospital, a regional health care system serving eight counties. Bolivar schools serve 2850 students in five attendance centers. The district has an award-winning tradition in academics, athletics, and fine arts.

With a 166-year history, FBC appreciates its past and is excited about its future but is committed to serving the Lord today. Close to a thousand people worship weekly at FBC in three services on Sunday morning (two contemporary and one blended) and one on Wednesday night at the Esquire, a renovated movie theater (bluegrass and country). We are devoted to the Great Commission with a long history of mission practice both locally and globally. We are intentional about developing small group Bible studies for the purpose of developing spiritual growth.

Essential job functions for our senior pastor are that he:

  • Gives himself continually to the daily disciplines that keeps one close to God, releases the Spirit within, and empowers a clear vision and mission for himself and the church.
  • Prepares and preaches biblically based, doctrinally sound, clear and practical messages that motivate listeners to apply the concepts and truths taught in their daily lives and draws people closer to Jesus.
  • Serves the church as a loving Shepherd, nurturing spiritual growth and development.
  • Leads and develops the ministry staff and lay leaders, empowering them to expand the ministries of the church.

To apply, submit your resume, a list of five references with contact information, a link to an online sermon you have preached, and an email address and text number that the search committee may use to communicate with you to search@fbcbolivar.org by March 13, 2026.
