Job description

Position Overview

Trinity Lutheran Church, a vibrant congregation of approximately 250 members in Western Michigan, is seeking a skilled and organized Parish Administrator to join our ministry team. This is a part-time position (20–30 hours per week) offering the opportunity to serve a welcoming faith community in a role that blends traditional church administration with modern communications and technology.

The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, a passion for serving others, and comfort with digital tools including church management software, social media platforms, and digital content creation.

Position Details

Position Title: Parish Administrator

Reports To: Senior Pastor

Hours: Part-time, 20–25 hours per week

Classification: Non-exempt / Hourly

Primary Responsibilities

Worship & Bulletin Preparation

• Prepare weekly bulletins and digital worship content using standard liturgical resources

• Coordinate with worship assistants, musicians, and lay leaders regarding schedules and materials

• Support the congregation’s worship life through timely and accurate communications

Office Administration

• Manage day-to-day office operations including phones, website, email, mail, and church records

• Maintain membership records, files, and correspondence with accuracy and confidentiality

• Handle general office needs including supplies, equipment, and occasional errands

Communications & Digital Content

• Produce and distribute the weekly Trinity Tidings email newsletter

• Manage church social media accounts and create engaging content for our congregation and community

• Develop digital announcements, graphics, and event promotions in alignment with ELCA guidelines

Church Management Software (Breeze)

• Serve as the primary administrator of our Breeze church management database

• Track attendance, maintain member records, and generate reports to support ministry and outreach

• Assist the pastor with visitor follow-up and congregational care using database tools

Additional Responsibilities

• Support the church’s Food Pantry through volunteer coordination and record-keeping

• Manage the building use calendar and coordinate facility requests

• Assist with annual congregational reporting to the synod and the congregation and other special projects as needed

Qualifications

Required

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

• Experience with or ability to quickly learn church management software (Breeze preferred)

• Comfort with social media platforms and digital content creation

• Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information

• Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision

Preferred

• Experience in a church or nonprofit office setting

• Familiarity with Lutheran (ELCA) worship practices and terminology

• Graphic design experience (Canva, Adobe, or similar tools)

• Experience with Constant Contact or similar email marketing platforms

This is a primarily on-site position with some scheduling flexibility.
