Position Summary

The Director of Audio Visual and Media Production serves as the ministry and operational leader responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of all audio-visual, livestream, media production, and digital communication functions of First Mount Zion Baptist Church (FMZBC).

The Director provides strategic leadership and hands-on technical expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality worship experiences and ministry events through excellence in audio, video, lighting, media production, livestreaming, and digital engagement. The Director leads a team of employees, volunteers, and contractors while fostering a culture of servant leadership, technical excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This position collaborates closely with the Senior Pastor, Church Business Administrator, ministry leaders, and external vendors to ensure all productions effectively support the mission of First Mount Zion Baptist Church and expand its ministry through both in-person and online engagement.


Essential FunctionsProduction Leadership

The Director shall:

  • Direct all technical production activities for Sunday worship services, Bible Study, Children's Church, funerals, weddings, concerts, revivals, conferences, leadership meetings, ministry activities, rehearsals, and special events.

  • Develop production schedules and run-of-show documentation.

  • Coordinate production timelines from planning through post-event evaluation.

  • Ensure production quality, consistency, and operational readiness.

  • Lead all production meetings with staff, volunteers, and contractors.

  • Maintain contingency plans for equipment failures and production interruptions.


Audio Systems Management

The Director shall oversee:

  • Front-of-House audio

  • Broadcast audio

Minimum QualificationsEducation

Option One

Associate's Degree from an accredited college or technical school, or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines:

AND

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in live production, livestreaming, audio, video, lighting, editing, or broadcast production.

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in live production, livestreaming, audio, video, lighting, editing, or broadcast production.


Experience

Required:

  • Minimum one (1) year supervising employees, volunteers, contractors, or a combination thereof.

  • Previous experience serving in a church environment as staff, volunteer, or contractor.

Preferred:
