Located less than seven miles from Washington, D.C., with two metro stations and ample public transportation, the City of Falls Church, Virginia, is a unique and historic community. With a population of approximately 16,000, the city is recognized for its walkability, quality customer service, nationally ranked school system, environmental activism, and community activities.

Job Overview:

The City of Falls Church is recruiting a part-time Master Control/Camera Operator for Falls Church Community Television (FCCTV). This position helps record City and School meetings and events and facilitates access producer use of the station during the evening.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

●       Operate video and audio equipment to record public events;

●       Generate program schedules for cablecast and manage cable channel content;

●       Assist public access members with field and studio equipment;

●       Assist high school students and public access producers with troubleshooting software and

●       equipment;

●       Accommodate studio set up for high school students and public access producers;

●       Ensure that equipment is functional when checked out of and returned to the station by    

●       students and public access members;

●       Answer incoming calls to the station;

●       Report anomalies in cable channel activity and any technical issues to station management.

Qualifications:

●       Basic computer skills

●       Some experience with camera equipment required

●       Ability to problem solve for technical issues

●       Good customer service

●       Professional attire while interacting with the public, officials, and producers

Hours:  Varies. This is a 10 to 20-hour per week position, Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to as late as midnight; possible occasional Sundays for about four hours; and two Saturdays in May for 8+ hours each.

Locations: The FCCTV studio (121 Mustang Alley, Room 206), City Hall (300 Park Ave.), Falls Church Public Schools Office (150 S Washington St.) and other locations within the City.

Salary: $20 per hour; this is a part-time, wage only position without fringe benefits.
