Job description

Provide crisis intervention, short-term counseling, and clinical case management to transitional age youth (ages 18 - 25) to address a variety of behavioral health needs. Conduct Mental Health assessments. Maintain paperwork for Medi-Cal charts as appropriate, meet contractual requirements, and apply a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach.
DUTIES:
1. Provide low-barrier behavioral health services to YNC-affiliated clients, with or without insurance, at the YNC and approved offsite locations.
2. Conduct mental health assessments and determine appropriate levels of care.
3. Conduct individual counseling with clients who meet mild-to-moderate medical necessity and DSM V-TR diagnostic criteria.
4. Make appropriate referrals to community agencies, programs, or higher levels of care.
5. Provide individual and/or group therapy to assigned populations.
6. Attend individual and group supervision as assigned.
7. Provide clinical perspective and support in bi-weekly YNC and Hutton House Case consultation meetings.
8. Complete all necessary charting, reports, and statistical information necessary for assigned client population, in a timely manner.
9. Meet contractual obligations, as applicable, by billing a determined number of reimbursable hours.
10. Provide and maintain current records of all necessary paperwork for insurance credentialing.
11. Provide regular bi-directional (CHS/YNC) feedback to ensure continuous program improvement.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Completed Master's degree in Counseling/ Psychology or Social Work.
2. Has current Associate or Licensed status with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. (MFT, MSW or PCC)
3. Possess strong organizational skills.
4. Be a self-motivated individual; possessing the ability to initiate action related to client services, billing hours (as applicable) and documentation.
5. Ability to:
a. Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, co-located partner agency staff,
YNC staff, CHS clinical colleagues, and the professional community.
b. Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines amidst shifting client/program needs.
c. Assess and prioritize client issues and collaboratively determine immediate needs.
d. Establish clear boundaries in a diplomatic manner with clients and YNC/CHS staff.
e. Be open to feedback from clinical and administrative supervisors.
f. Practice bi-directional communication to clarify needs and expectations, enhance understanding, and promote alignment between YNC and CHS admin, staff, and programs
6. Knowledge of:
a. Theory, principles, techniques and trends in counseling and therapy.
b. DSM V-TR Diagnostic Criteria.
c. Trauma-informed care.
d. Issues related to youth homelessness
e. Substance use & co-occurring disorders
f. De-escalation, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution techniques.
g. Clinical case management and appropriate community resource referrals.
h. Electronic Health Record Systems Software; including Microsoft Office Suite.
7. Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
8. Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening.
9. Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing, if required.
10. Valid California driver's license and current proof of auto insurance coverage.
11. Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points - if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points.

7. Participate in assigned scheduled agency and YNC program meetings, in-service trainings, conferences and other trainings as determined by the supervisor. This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings.
7. Observe assigned working hours by demonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.
8. Perform assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation.
9. Communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with staff and clients of various ages, and educational, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds.
10. Perform job duties in a manner that ensures a safe working environment for all.
11. Participate in and/or support agency fund development activities and events.
12. Preparation of assigned reports, work records, statistical data, job performance evaluations, work plans, etc. in a timely manner.
