Summary
Northshore Christian Academy is seeking a compassionate and qualified School Nurse to oversee the health and safety needs of students during the school day. The School Nurse provides direct student care, maintains health records, administers medications, ensures compliance with state regulations, and equips faculty and staff through health and safety training. This individual serves as an important member of the school community by fostering a caring, Christ-centered environment that supports student well-being.
Responsibilities
Student Health Services
  • Manage the daily operation of the school health room
  • Assess and provide care for students who become ill or injured during school hours
  • Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, parental authorization, and state regulations
  • Monitor and support students with chronic health conditions, including diabetes and severe allergies
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student visits, treatments, medications, and incidents
  • Communicate health concerns and student care information with parents and guardians as appropriate
  • Complete accident and illness reports and maintain confidential health records
  • Promote a caring and supportive environment for students
Health and Safety Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with all school policies and applicable federal and state health regulations
  • Review and manage student immunization records and required state reporting
  • Maintain and update student health plans and emergency care plans
  • Stay informed of current health requirements and implement changes as needed
Training and Staff Support
  • Coordinate and monitor CPR and First Aid certification records for faculty and staff
  • Provide annual and ongoing training for staff regarding:
  • Student allergies and anaphylaxis response
  • Epi-Pen administration
  • Medication procedures
  • Emergency health protocols
  • Communicable disease prevention
  • Guide health assistants and volunteers as needed
Health Screenings and Prevention
  • Coordinate annual vision, hearing, and other required health screenings
  • Collaborate with specialists and healthcare professionals regarding student health needs
  • Develop and distribute allergy awareness information to staff
  • Implement procedures for managing communicable illnesses and infection prevention.
Records, Supplies, and Operations
  • Maintain accurate health records and archive records according to school policy
  • Manage health room inventory and order medical supplies as needed
  • Maintain classroom first aid kits and emergency medical supplies
  • Prepare the health room for the beginning and end of each school year
  • Provide regular reports to school administration regarding health and safety matters
Qualifications
  • Born Again Christian walking faithfully with God, has a personal testimony, and lives a consecrated life devoted to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Regularly Attends a Christian Church
  • Current certification/licensure as an RN, LPN, EMT, Medical Assistant, or equivalent healthcare credential
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential student information
  • Knowledge of Washington State school health regulations
