Job description

The Technology Specialist II supports the Director of Technology by deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, classroom technology, applications, and related systems for faculty, staff, and students. This role manages Active Directory and network configurations, resolves Tier 2 support issues, assists with escalated tickets and technology projects, and helps ensure reliable and effective technology operations across the organization.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Deploy and maintain all desktops, laptops, devices, and classroom technology
  • Deploy and maintain all applications
  • Manage user and computer object changes in Windows Server Active Directory
  • Maintain and update network configurations as needed
  • Perform routine maintenance on systems used to deploy, maintain, and control technology
  • Troubleshoot and repair all desktops, laptops, devices, and applications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all basic network issues
  • Respond to all tier 2 tickets in the support queue
  • Assist Technology Specialist 1 if requested or tickets are escalated
  • Assist Director of Technology with special projects and system wide upgrades
  • Adhere to Valley Christian policies, procedures/processes, and codes
  • Performs other related assigned duties

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others

  • Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school's Mission & Beliefs
  • Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Must be proficient with the Microsoft 365 suite of applications
  • Must be proficient with Apple iPads and iPadOS
  • Must be proficient with tools used to deploy system images
  • Must be proficient with tools used to deploy mobile devices
  • Must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of networking
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with outside vendors and businesses
  • Must be proficient with desktops and laptops running Microsoft Windows
  • Must have basic knowledge of wired and wireless networking
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Ability to multi-task with organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with a customer-service mindset

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience with Windows Server
  • Experience with Acronis Snap Deploy

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's degree in a related field or 5 years of related experience
  • Each job-related industry certification may substitute for 1 year of required experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time
  • Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story)
  • Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
  • Work in noisy and crowded school environment
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed
  • Frequent walking throughout the campus
  • Must be able to travel in state between campuses, to vendors, and to related events
