Description

The College of Health Sciences at Charleston Southern University invites applications for an adjunct faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences for students in the Department of Physical Therapy. Part-time adjunct faculty members are contracted term-by-term based on course need and availability. Charleston Southern seeks candidates who are professing Christians committed to excellence in teaching.


Responsibilities

Delivers didactic, laboratory, and/or experiential instruction in-person in the Physical Therapy Program. Primary duties include preparing for and conducting classes, grading, evaluating, and assessing students' assignments and tests, maintaining accurate records and demonstrating excellent classroom management.

Qualifications

Active license to practice as a PT in South Carolina or equivalent relative to field
Contemporary experience and/or expertise in the assigned content areas
Commitment to professional graduate education and student success
Excellent organizational and communication skills
The ideal candidate would be a DPT who has clinical experience with specialty certification and/or academic experience in a DPT program.


About the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
The Department of Physical Therapy offers a two-and-a-half-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and is a member of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT). The mission of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Charleston Southern University is to prepare highly skilled practitioners in a Christian environment who demonstrate compassionate, evidence-based clinical care while serving their community and profession with humility.
The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is housed within the College of Health Sciences along with the Physician Assistant, Athletic Training, Clinical Counseling, Kinesiology, and Public Health programs. The Health Sciences building has 15,000 square feet of dedicated physical therapy space. It also includes a state-of-the-art human anatomy dissection lab and research labs that will satisfy a variety of scholarly agendas. The DPT curriculum consists of eight semesters of full-time, in person, student-centered learning utilizing a team-based instruction model.
