Christian Internships and Christian Youth Workers both serve faith-based communities, but internships are typically short-term training opportunities, while youth workers have ongoing roles in youth engagement and mentorship. Internships often serve as a stepping stone to a career in youth ministry or related fields.

What types of projects or responsibilities can I expect during a Christian internship?

During a Christian internship, you can expect to engage in a variety of tasks that support the mission and daily operations of the ministry or organization. These may include assisting with youth programs, organizing community outreach events, participating in worship planning, and supporting administrative functions. Interns often collaborate closely with staff and volunteers, gaining hands-on experience in leadership, event coordination, and spiritual mentorship. This diversity of responsibilities helps interns develop practical skills while deepening their understanding of faith-based service in a professional context.

What are Christian internships?

Christian internships are structured programs that provide students or young adults with hands-on experience in Christian organizations, such as churches, ministries, non-profits, or mission groups. These internships are designed to help individuals develop their faith, leadership skills, and professional abilities while serving in a Christ-centered environment. Interns typically assist with ministry activities, outreach programs, administrative tasks, and community service projects. The goal is to prepare participants for future careers in ministry or other fields where they can integrate their faith and work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Christian Internship, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Christian Internship, you typically need a foundational understanding of Christian doctrine, a commitment to faith-based values, and a willingness to learn, often supported by enrollment in or completion of a relevant academic program. Familiarity with Bible study tools, church management software, or ministry platforms like Planning Center is often beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills, humility, and a servant-hearted attitude are crucial soft skills for building relationships and contributing positively to ministry teams. These skills and qualities are important for effectively supporting ministry goals, fostering spiritual growth, and making a meaningful impact within faith-based organizations.

At Christian Family Solutions, we are committed to healing and helping people in need with the same excellence and unconditional love that Jesus Christ demonstrated in His ministry. When someone is called to a career with a strong sense of purpose, it's more than a job. It's a vocation.

We are actively seeking a Graduate-Level Intern who is eager to learn more about integrating Christian counseling practices. Preference may be given to individuals who are members of a WELS, ELS, or confessional Lutheran church.

What You Will Be Doing:

We are offering a clinical internship experience beginning August 2026 for students not seeking a practicum. Interns will receive hands-on training and skills needed for Christian-based counseling services in person at a School-Based Counseling clinic.

Why intern for Christian Family Solutions?

Christian Family Solutions will be able to provide training and learning opportunities in the process of applying clinical treatment within a biblical worldview. Along with this learning experience, you have the opportunity to focus 100% on your internship duties, as we are equipped with a top-notch support staff who handle credentialing with third party payers, the intake process, billing, authorizations, marketing, and other operations. You also have the flexibility to choose the times you provide services to accommodate your school schedule.

If you are motivated to learn how to assist clients in a comfortable, supportive, and Christ-centered atmosphere with a strong Christian Mission and Core Values, we want you to be part of our team.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's program in Human Services field.
  • Master's level student seeking a for-credit practicum or internship.
  • Active member of a WELS or ELS or confessional Lutheran church preferred.
  • Willingness to support the mission of Christian Family Solutions.
  • A high degree of responsibility in maintaining confidentiality in all matters pertaining to work.
  • Highly dependable, tactful, and courteous with demonstrated strong communication skills.
  • Willing to uphold a biblical worldview in the clinical setting.
