Communications Creative Director

Southeast Christian Church

Louisville, KY • On-site

Full-time

Posted 5 days ago

Job description

The Creative Director for the Marking and Communications team exists to elevate the church's voice through compelling, mission-driven storytelling and targeted, beautifully crafted communications. This role ensures that creativity captures attention, communicates profound truth, and inspires immediate action. The Creative Director ensures that the church's visual and narrative output is not merely visually compelling but is anchored in strategy, effectiveness, and emotional resonance.

Why Southeast? Southeast Christian Church is a dynamic, growing church where staff are encouraged to lead boldly, care deeply, and live authentically.

What you will be doing

Creative Quality & Brand Stewardship

  • Establish and maintain an uncompromising standard of creative excellence, ensuring 100% adherence to brand standards across all outputs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in brand recognition and consistency, utilizing both qualitative perception and quantitative data.
  • Ensure all creative work, from sermon series to physical campaigns, emotionally resonates with the target audience and drives measurable next-step actions.

Content Production Throughput

  • Oversee the high-volume production of film, design, and digital content, ensuring all deliverables are shipped on time, on budget, and on brand.
  • Translate complex ministry strategies into clear, beautiful, and effective creative briefs and executions.
  • Sharpen the creative process to significantly reduce leadership approval cycles and minimize creative rework.

Team Development & Culture

  • Foster a robust feedback and critique culture where the team operates under "we, not me" and eliminates ego-driven decisions.
  • Actively develop the skill levels of the creative team year over year, focusing on the retention of top-tier design and film talent.
  • Anchor all creativity in strategy and vision, protecting the team's ability to operate efficiently within constraints without frustration.

What we are looking for

  • 7+ years proven experience leading high-output, impactful, healthy corporate or agency film, design, and digital content teams.
  • A powerful portfolio demonstrating not only aesthetic beauty but measurable effectiveness and strategic execution.
  • Mastery in storytelling and brand stewardship.
  • A collaborative leader who thrives in a constraints-driven environment and refuses to let limitations stifle imagination.

Our Requirements

  • Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church, or willing to become one.
  • Models staff values: Honor, Care, Accountability, Grit, Authenticity, Humility, and Fun.
  • Lives out staff expectations of groups, inviting, serving, worship, and giving.
  • Agrees with Statement of Faith and submits to church leadership.

*Please read our Statement of Faith that is attached below. You will be asked if you agree with our Statement of Faith within the application process.
