SCHOOL INFORMATION

NorthPointe Christian Schools isย an independent Christian school formed in 1972 serving over 1,300 preschool through high school students from over 120 churches. NPC pairs academic excellence with a strong, Christ-centered environment to reach our mission of "equipping students to impact their world for Jesus Christ."ย 

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a full-time position for the 2026-2027 school year as an ESS Parapro at our Elementary School.

The purpose of this position is to build belonging in partnership with teachers and families fostering a climate for students of various gifts and abilities to achieve their God given potential.ย 

EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the School's Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and Scripture into daily activities.
  • Minister to students through prayer, encouragement, and wise counsel.
  • Follow safety protocols for where students can be and how to secure the building.
  • Professionally represents the school in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
  • Remain professional in attire and behavior.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all matters pertaining to students, employees, and donors as outlined in NPC's Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Be timely in reporting to work and when at work.
  • Carry out the procedures and protocols in the employee handbook and respect decisions made by leadership.
  • Maintain open communication with leadership regarding questions, concerns, and needs.
  • As a representative of the school, all written and verbal interactions with parents/guardians, co-workers, and the community must be professional and reflect the school positively. This includes one's appearance, the content of the communication, and presentation of it.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES &ย DUTIES

  • Assist ESS Coordinator to provide regular education teachers with accommodations/modifications and behavior management programs for students with special needs.ย 
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset in believing that each student has the potential to succeed
  • Provide support for students with disabilities inside the classroom to enable the student to reach his/her full potential.
  • Support students with behavioral concerns and/or learning and/or emotional disabilities.
  • Implement individualized instruction for targeted students, including accommodations and modifications, curriculum adaptations, and behavioral plans.
  • Assist with NPC record keeping and filing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Active Christian in agreement with and willing to sign the NorthPointe Christian School's Foundational statements.
  • Able to pass required background checks and fingerprint screening.ย 
  • Openness to development of teaching skills.
  • Flexibility in team/student demands.
  • Discernment and creativity in meeting student needs.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Exhibit the verbal ability to understand meaning of words, the ideas associated with them, and the ability to convey them to others clearly using oral expression and comprehension.
  • Display a willingness to learn and share insights, tips, and strategies learned along the way.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physically able to:
    • Frequently stand and sit for extended periods of time.

    • On occasion, engage with students while kneeling, squatting, stooping, or bending 50-70 degrees at the waist.
    • Exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
    • Perform daily repetitive movement of fingers and hands when writing and typing.
    • Read printed and electronic material daily. See with clarity objects using close, distant, and peripheral vision.
    • Sufficiently hear conversations in person and distinguish sounds clearly up to 20 feet.
  • Must be able to maintain continuous safety of the students and respond quickly and appropriately to any threat toward their well-being.
