Job Summary

Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) assists chairside with dental procedures applying an extensive knowledge of dental insurance, medical terminology, and front office processes in a dental or multi-specialty clinical setting. Responsible for patient insurance verification, authorizations, eligibility, copay collection, and scheduling.
This is a Per Diem RDA position with our Orthodontics clinic in Orange, CA. We are looking for someone who can work at least 4 shifts per pay period, primarily on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but possibly other days as needed.
The shifts can range from as early as 8:00-4:30, and as late as 9:30-6:00.

Pay Range

Minimum $27.00 Midpoint $27.00 Maximum $28.00

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

  • Required: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in dental front office or clinical coordination. Experience in patient scheduling, insurance verification, and benefits coordination.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of experience assisting chairside as an RDA in general or specialty dental practice.


Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) program.
  • Preferred: Associates in related field


Training

  • Required: None Required
  • Preferred: Familiarity with eligibility portals, EHR software, and medical charting software (e.g., EPIC). Understanding of dental codes (CDT) (HCPCS) and ICD-10 for medical billing.

Specialized Skills

  • Required: Knowledge of dental and medical insurance plans, billing codes, and terminology. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interact with patients and team members professionally. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Competency in Microsoft Office and dental EHR systems.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish. Knowledge of medical necessity documentation for dental-medical crossover.


Licensure

  • Required: Active and current RDA license in good standing. CPR/BLS certification.
