Job description

The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) are actively seeking a full‑time faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor of Research Orthopedic Surgery to join the Division of Orthopedic Surgery at CHLA and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at KSOM of USC.

The successful candidate will join 15 other full‑time faculty members in the Jackie and Gene Autry Orthopedic Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conduct, publish, and obtain funding for original research in clinical motion analysis and biomechanics
  • Oversee all research in the CHLA Motion and Sports Analysis Laboratory
  • Promote and expand the reputation of the Motion Lab’s research program within the motion analysis and biomechanics communities
  • Supervise and mentor students, research staff, and research volunteers
  • Contribute to process and technical advancements in the Motion Lab

A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered.

The annual base salary range for this position is $130,000-$140,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market as external market and organizational considerations.

Applicant requirements include a PhD in Kinesiology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field; at least 5 years’ experience in human motion analysis; and experience with Vicon and Qualisys motion analysis systems preferred.

CHLA is the largest and most comprehensive pediatric hospital in the Los Angeles area. The Jackie and Gene Autry Orthopedic Center also features the renowned John C. Wilson, Jr. Motion Analysis Laboratory, a source of outstanding clinical care and research. The orthopedic center is consistently ranked in the Top 5 nationally by U.S. News and World Report.
