Job description

Job Title: Application Engineer

Job Description

The Application Engineer plays a critical role in connecting customer requirements with advanced chiller and heat-recovery technologies. In this role, you design system solutions, prepare detailed technical documentation, and ensure that equipment is applied correctly, efficiently, and competitively in the field. You collaborate closely with engineering, sales, and product development teams, as well as external partners, to deliver engineered solutions that meet performance, cost, and compliance requirements while supporting the companyโ€™s rapid growth and innovation roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Design engineered HVAC system solutions that integrate chiller, heat-recovery, and modular chiller technologies to meet customer performance and cost requirements.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications and system configurations, ensuring correct application of equipment in the field.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including drawings, schematics, and application guidelines, to support internal teams and external partners.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and product development teams to evaluate system options and recommend optimal solutions that balance efficiency, reliability, and competitiveness.
  • Apply principles of mechanical engineering and psychrometrics to analyze system performance and verify that designs meet required standards and compliance criteria.
  • Use CAD and 3D design tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks to create, review, and update system layouts and equipment drawings.
  • Support the use of ERP systems by entering and maintaining accurate technical and configuration data, including bills of materials and system attributes.
  • Perform data entry and analysis using Excel to support system sizing, performance calculations, and documentation of project details.
  • Work with compressors, AHUs, and related HVAC components to ensure proper selection, sizing, and integration into complete system solutions.
  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and external partners, helping them understand system designs, application limits, and best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by sharing field feedback and application insights with product development and engineering teams.
  • Participate in training activities, including travel-based training, to deepen technical expertise and stay current with evolving product offerings and technologies.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in engineering, preferably in mechanical engineering.
  • At least 4+ years of HVAC experience, with a focus on system applications and equipment integration.
  • Hands-on working experience with heat recovery systems, chillers, modular chillers, compressors, and air handling units (AHUs).
  • Strong understanding of psychrometrics and its application to HVAC system design and performance analysis.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for creating and modifying technical drawings and system layouts.
  • Experience using 3D design tools such as Inventor and SolidWorks for equipment and system modeling.
  • Ability to work with ERP systems for managing technical, configuration, and project data.
  • Competence in Excel for data entry, analysis, and documentation of engineering calculations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional engineering certification with the ability to stamp and sign drawings (nice to have).
  • Prior experience in application engineering within HVAC or related mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with modular chiller configurations and heat-recovery strategies in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Comfort working with advanced chiller and heat-recovery technologies and learning new product lines.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Motivation to contribute to a rapidly growing organization and help shape its culture and standards.

Work Environment

You will work in a rapidly expanding organization that is building a high-performing team in Arizona, with plans to add an additional facility in the state. The standard schedule follows four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work pattern and three-day weekends.
