Job description

Job Title: Children's Services Coordinator FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Client Services Program Reports to: Children's Services Manager Effective Date: 4/22/2024 Pay Rate: $42,000.00 annually. $20.19 per hour Position Overview: The Children's Services Coordinator provides direct support to families utilizing the children's services program and ensures wrap-around services are tailored to assist child victims/survivors of family violence and sexual assault in the shelter facility. HOURS: 40 hours weekly minimum or as necessary to achieve program tasks, activities, and responsibilities and to effectively document outcome measures and variations. To meet the program's needs, you must have the flexibility to work both business (10 am—7 pm) and untraditional hours, including weekends. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Completing an individual assessment for each parent and child, four years of age and older.
  • Assist with parenting avenues, including providing resources, guidance on healthy development for parents and children, and appropriate discipline techniques.
  • Assist with school enrollments and transportation to the appropriate school for enrollment and provide parents with Texas Law and education requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of children's services documentation.
  • Assist with coordinating events, workshops, and programs for children's services. Collaborate with other service providers to achieve the best results possible for each family.
  • Assist with coordinating monthly field trips for the children in childcare, including reservation of an agency vehicle for transportation.
  • Assist with childcare orientation for each new parent within 72 business hours of shelter intake.
  • Provides hands-on assistance in childcare to provide adequate care for the children.
  • Consult the supervisor regarding any critical situations within the department.
  • Assist with providing shelter and hotline coverage.
  • Be knowledgeable of community resources that impact children and families.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-year of prior experience working with children
  • First Aid Certified/CPR certified or willing to obtain certification within the specified timeframe.
Education and Other Requirements:
  • Minimum of a 2-year degree or comparable experience.
  • Must pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and reference checks.
  • Must have a clean driving record/ have automobile insurance coverage and, be insurable
  • No drivers under the age of 21
  • No DUI, reckless driving, suspended license violations
  • No more than 2 moving violations in a 3-year period for drivers over the age of 25
  • No more than 1 moving violation in a 3-year period for drivers ages 21-25
  • Provide and maintain personal automobile insurance.
  • Ability to endure tasks that require mobility and keep up with the demands of active children.
  • Ability to lift/carry/move a minimum of 40 lbs. for an extended distance.
Job-Specific Competencies:
  • Complete all required training for minimum childcare standards for shelter programs.
  • Have a working knowledge of child abuse laws, current Texas laws, and local Justice Systems.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills that encourage and empower residents to seek remedies for positive changes.
  • Sensitivity regarding the issues of family violence and sexual assault and the ability to remain calm in crises.
  • Understand residential programs and the dynamics of communal living.
