POSITION SUMMARY: The Childrenโs Ministry Director provides leadership, vision, and oversight for a comprehensive ministry serving children and their families. This individual cultivates a
Christ-centered environment where children are known, valued, and encouraged to grow in their faith and relationships with others and with Jesus Christ.
This role lives out Bethel Lutheran Churchโs mission to connect, grow, and serve God and others by creating meaningful opportunities for discipleship, belonging, and service for
children and their families.
Primary ResponsibilitiesMinistry Leadership & Development- Provide overall leadership, vision, and direction for childrenโs ministry (birth through grade 5).
- Develop and implement engaging, ageappropriate, and Christcentered programming, including Sunday School, seasonal events, and special activities.
- Oversee the Bethel Highlands Preschool lunch bunch ministry.
- Create intentional pathways for children and families to connect, grow in faith, and serve others.
- Partner with parents to equip and support them as the primary faith leaders in their home.
- Provide leadership and oversight for Bethelโs Faith Milestone Ministry (from birth to 5th grade), helping families mark key moments in their childโs faith journey.
- Supervise and support nursery staff and volunteers.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of Vacation Bible School.
- Ensure all child safety policies and procedures are consistently followed and regularly reviewed.
Volunteer Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Recruit, equip, and empower volunteers to serve in childrenโs ministry.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and missionfocused team culture.
- Provide training, encouragement, and ongoing support for volunteers.
- Maintain strong communication with families, volunteers, and staff.
- Collaborate with church staff, youth team, and Bethel Highlands Preschool to align childrenโs ministry with overall church vision and initiatives.
Administrative & Organizational Responsibilities- Maintain regular office hours and clear, accessible communication (phone, email, etc.).
- Coordinate schedules, programming logistics, and ministry calendars.
- Ensure timely and effective communication with families and volunteers.
- Utilize technology to strengthen communication, organization, and ministry impact.
- Operate within the policies and procedures outlined in the Bethel Lutheran Church Staff Handbook.
Qualifications- Bachelorโs degree in Childrenโs Ministry or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of two years of experience in childrenโs, youth, or family ministry preferred.
- Strong understanding of the Christian faith.
- Ability to live out Bethelโs core values: communication, positivity, accountability, collaboration, and authenticity.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Energetic, flexible, and creative with a sense of humor.
- Proficiency with technology for communication and ministry.
