Job description

Job Description: Substitute Teacher

Plans an implements activities that promote the social, physical and intellectual growth of children. Responsible for, models and holds others accountable for the care, hygiene, learning and developmental activities, specialized programs, and redirection of children covering infant/toddler, pre-school and kindergarten age groups. Communicates directly with parents. Maintains classroom records, cleanliness and orderliness, in the absence of he regular classroom teacher.

Responsibilities:

- Assists and steps in when the regular teacher is unavailable.

- Engage with current and prospective parents and family members and is responsive to their needs. - Comply with FEG and all governmental regulations regarding the care of children.

- Understand responsibilities as a mandated reporter.

- Keep the Director informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children. - Assist and accept responsibilities in other daily center duties that might be temporary in the event other personnel are not available.

- Attend and participate in staff meetings, center events, and parent/customer meetings as required. - Demonstrate proficiency in early childhood care and education, with demonstrated proficiency. and solid organizational skills.

- Notify parents when their child is ill, injured or experiencing other changes while at school. - Implement curriculum left when the regular teacher is out.

- Insure daily schedules incorporate a balance of indoor/outdoor, quiet/active, individual/group child initiated/staff initiated activities.

Coordinate with teachers and center administration to ensure appropriate ratios at all times. - Insure all children are accounted for and properly supervised.

- Insure that classroom setup allows for ease of supervision and foresees any changes that may need to be implemented.

- Perform and delegate appropriate housekeeping activities that will insure health and safety to children (i.e., wiping spills, clearing debris, etc.).

- Approach issues and problems through teamwork and collaborative efforts and report conflicts in fair and appropriate manor.

- Focus on solving problems and think out ideas that may be best for children and families.

- Is collaborative and inclusive when faced with issues that arise with children and families.

- Genuinely care about and relate to all kinds of people constructively.

Requirements amp; Skills:

- Highschool Diploma or GED

- 1- 2 years experience in early childhood education.

- 1-2 years experience working with assigned age group desired.

- Meets education criteria required by the state

- AA in Early Childhood Education or equivalent preferred

- CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain

- Child Development permit or CDA preferred on the curriculum

Reports To: Executive Director /
