Job description

Managed Labor Solutions (MLS), a national industry leading rental car outsourcing company, is looking for an Area Manager to drive the long-term market strategy by leading and developing a team of leaders to meet profit and sales goals. Reporting directly to the COO, they will oversee day to day operations activity and be responsible for the financial success of the area, as well as being tasked with maintaining customer satisfaction. This position reports to the COO and manages Rental Car Site and Operations Managers.

Scope: Multi-site area

Travel: Required

Daily and Weekly:

  • Adhering to the company’s six fundamental pillars
  • Review each site's flash for accuracy, timeliness, and variance vs. the daily turns target; reconcile flash to billing and payroll by end of business Wednesday.
  • Review labor plan against projected and actual transactions; approve or challenge overtime.
  • Review accident and incident reports; escalate serious events the same day.
  • Interact with your teams everyday to ensure the success of the site(s)
  • Review the Ad Tracker and Interview Tracker daily — hiring is a daily discipline, not a monthly project.
  • Monitor COMPASS, DAYTONA, and Service Notes for task completion and scorecard movement where applicable.
  • Site visits on a published rotation; no site goes unvisited on a set interval.
  • Dashboard per site prepared and reviewed with the Regional Manager; client meeting or conference call using the dashboard.
  • Confirm bonus structures are in place and tracked; verify ancillary and out-of-scope services are billed per contract.

Monthly

  • Face-to-face with each key customer contact (GM, City or District Manager) - in a conference room, not a QTA or parking lot.
  • Staffing evaluation per site against base employee levels.
  • Review month-end financials for every site and explain variances.
  • Random documented compliance audits; lunchbox and orientation standards verified.

Quarterly and Annually

  • Performance evaluations for every Site Manager and Operations Manager within 30 days of quarter end.
  • Union Free Training delivered to management staff in the area.
  • Client lunches or dinners, with senior management given the option to attend.
  • Contribute the area's annual plan and budget to the Regional Manager for presentation to senior management by November 30.

People Skills

  • Coach and develop Site Managers - build managers, not just cover shifts.  Hiring pipeline for every site and a bench for the area.
  • Safety culture: committees at every location, visible Days Since Last Accident trackers, investigations completed.

Critical Success Factors

  • Coaching and development of teams
  • Driving customer satisfaction
  • Performance excellence mindset
  • Associate team satisfaction
  • Conflict resolution
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and sense of urgency
  • Verbal and written communication
  • Deadline and goal oriented
  • Self-motivated
  • Friendly, engaging personality
  • Solution-focused problem solver
  • Professional presence
  • Ability to travel to sites.
  • Multi-site operations management experience with direct P+L or labor budget ownership.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a labor plan to a transaction forecast and maintain efficiency and profitability.
  • Experience managing managers, not only hourly staff.
  • Comfort operating inside a customer's own system and scorecard.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving history; background check required; 21+.

Our benefits:

  • Annual bonus plan opportunity
  • Medical insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Advancement opportunities nationwide
