Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) who is passionate about social impact and brings a powerful blend of clinical expertise, operational leadership, and strategic thinking.
As a key member of the executive leadership team, the COO will oversee all program operations across multiple service lines and locations. This role is critical in ensuring the organization operates with excellence, efficiency, and integrity-while fostering a culture of belonging, innovation, and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence & Program Development
  • Lead the expansion and strengthening of organizational infrastructure to support growth
  • Oversee and enhance existing programs to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Design and implement innovative programs to meet emerging community needs

Leadership & Team Development
  • Drive execution of the organization's strategic plan
  • Build and cultivate high-performing, mission-driven teams
  • Partner with Human Resources to develop recruitment, retention, and talent development strategies
  • Foster a culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth

Collaboration & External Partnerships
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners, funders, and government agencies
  • Represent the organization to elevate visibility, partnerships, and impact
  • Strengthen internal collaboration across departments to support operational excellence
  • Serve as a passionate ambassador for the organization and the individuals it serves

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Build and maintain systems for risk identification, mitigation, and organizational protection
  • Establish performance measurement systems, including KPIs, to drive continuous improvement

Fiscal & Operational Management
  • Lead executive-level budget development and program financial oversight
  • Partner closely with the CFO and Finance team on financial strategy, forecasting, and reporting
  • Support both short- and long-term financial planning to ensure organizational sustainability

Qualifications
Education
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required
  • MSW with a valid LMSW license strongly preferred

Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience
  • Background in healthcare, behavioral health, substance use services, housing, or nonprofit/social services preferred

  • Proven success in executive leadership and operational management
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing complex budgets
  • Expertise in program development, implementation, and scaling
  • Deep knowledge of quality, compliance, and risk management systems
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills

Work Environment & Requirements
  • Work is performed in a hybrid office environment (on-site and/or remote)
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and computer use

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within service areas
