What is a chief of staff part time?

A Part-Time Chief of Staff supports executives by managing strategic initiatives, streamlining operations, and improving organizational efficiency on a reduced-hour basis. They act as a key advisor, ensuring priorities are met, communications are clear, and projects stay on track. This role is ideal for companies needing high-level support without a full-time commitment. What responsibilities can I expect as a part-time chief of staff, and how do they differ from a full-time role?

As a part-time Chief of Staff, you will commonly be responsible for managing executive calendars, facilitating internal communications, supporting project oversight, and ensuring alignment on priority initiatives. While many of the core duties mirror those of a full-time Chief of Staff, your focus will likely be on delivering strategic impact within a condensed schedule, meaning prioritization and efficiency are key. You may work closely with leadership to coordinate meetings, prepare briefings, and help streamline decision-making, often serving as a bridge between various departments. The role tends to be highly collaborative, requiring proactive engagement across teams while maintaining flexibility to address urgent needs. This unique structure is ideal for experienced professionals seeking a high-level, impactful role with more flexible hours.

To thrive as a Chief Of Staff Part Time, you need strong organizational, project management, and strategic planning skills, typically supported by a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or a related field. Outstanding communication, discretion, and adaptability set candidates apart in this multifaceted role. These abilities ensure seamless support for leadership, efficient operations, and effective alignment across teams despite the part-time commitment.
