The position includes coordination, collaboration and consultation with others responsible for direct program administration using technical leadership skills to promote quality client care. This position may work as/with community partners to provide comprehensive medication support services and oversight for our county's most vulnerable Medi-Cal recipients who may be high utilizers of community resources. This focus population may also be homeless/chronically homeless, have a mental illness and/or substance use disorder.

Your Work in Action Administrative and Direct Client Care Breakdown: Direct Client Care 60%, Administrative 40% Oversight of 6 prescribers specific to medical care Primarily scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional on-call assistance.

Onsite at the County's Health and Human Services Agency Breslauer Campus Your Benefits $100,000 Sign on Bonus: Twenty-five percent (25%) of the sign-on bonus payment will be paid in the employee's first payroll check upon hire or as soon as reasonably practicable thereafter, twenty-five percent (25%) of the sign-on bonus payment will be paid after the affected employee's completion of three pay periods or as soon as reasonably practicable thereafter, and fifty percent (50%) of the sign-on bonus payment will be paid in the employee's payroll check for the first full pay period following successful completion of their initial one-year evaluation period. Employee may choose to defer receipt of the sign on bonus to the end of a fully served retention period without any repayment obligation. Holidays: 12 days per year with one additional floating holiday each year.

Vacation: 10 days first 3 years; 15 days 4-9 years; 17 days 10-15 years; 20 days 16 years and thereafter. Sick Leave: 12 days per year with a generous pro rata payoff at termination after at least 5 years. Administrative Leave: 80 hours per calendar year.

Retirement: CalPERS, coordinated with Social Security. Insurance: Medical and dental plan options, with the County paying for most of the employee and a portion of the dependent cost; a vision plan, a fully paid life insurance policy and long-term disability plan. IRC Section 125 plan (additional insurance and Flexible Spending Accounts for Health and Dependent Care), "Assist to Own" downpayment assistance program through Golden State Finance Authority, Employee Assistance Programs QUALIFICATIONS Completion of academic coursework and training as defined in Section 623 of Title IX of the California Administrative Code and possession of M.D. degree from an accredited college or university and completion of an approved residency in psychiatry; Graduate training in psychiatry to be supplemented by an additional period of two (2) years of training or practice in the field of psychiatry, one (1) year of which shall be administrative or management experience. Additional specialization or certification in adult, older adult or youth psychiatry by a specialty board recognized by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association is highly desired; Possession of a Physician and Surgeon Certificate issued by the California Medical Board

Possession of a valid California driver's license. Incumbents are required to follow the ethical and legal standards required to maintain licensure with the California Medical Board. The ideal candidate will be able to provide excellent clinical care to one of the most vulnerable populations in our community.

In alignment with our Agency and Branch vision, this candidate will utilize their skill to influence clinical work, site-wide, in the direction of caring for the "whole person". They must have knowledge and experience working with adults who live with chronic and persistent mental health challenges with or without a co-occurring condition, in either an inpatient or outpatient work setting. They will also have a deep desire for serving those in need while promoting community health and wellness.

Full Position Description Chief of Psychiatry ABOUT SHASTA COUNTY Shasta County covers a large geographic area that includes rivers, lakes, and mountains that offer an abundance of recreational opportunities. An eight-mile river trial, numerous community parks, a local museum alliance and continuous community events contribute to the quality of life. Shasta Lake, located just a few miles north of Redding, is a play land for water sport enthusiasts and vacationers that offers 365 miles of shoreline and plenty of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, fishing, sightseeing and wildlife viewing.

Our County encompasses three incorporated cities as well as multiple unincorporated communities, providing services to approximately 180,000 residents. This offers a lifestyle that blends the best of rural and urban features while also offering a reasonable cost of living. OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT The Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) partners with the community to protect and improve the health and wellbeing of Shasta County residents.

HHSA is organized into four branches: Behavioral Health & Social Services, Public Health, Economic Mobility, and a centralized Administration Services. HHSA promotes optimal health for all. The frail, the abused, the mentally ill, and those without resources look to HHSA for services and resources to meet their basic needs, and to protect their health and safety.

The Behavioral Health & Social Services Branch is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through comprehensive mental health services and essential social services to adults, children, and families. By integrating both behavioral health and social support services, we strive to build a healthier community by ensuring individuals have the resources they need to achieve stability and wholeness. Children's Services encompass the services that help ensure children's mental and physical well-being are protected and safe.

The Child Welfare division of the branch investigates alleged abuse and neglect of children, and it licenses foster and adoptive homes for children who are experiencing traumatic events in their lives such as the removal from their caregiver due to alleged abuse and neglect. This division also works within the confines of the Dependency Court to reunify families when and where they can demonstrate appropriate change to meet the safety needs of their children. The branch also encompasses children's mental health teams which work in conjunction with the Child Welfare division along with community providers to ensure that the youth that are being served are having their mental health and substance use challenges addressed.

This branch also works with juvenile justice and education to coordinate services for clients. Adult Services focuses on services to support people eighteen and older. Adult mental health services include outpatient mental health care, 24-hour crisis stabilization services for people at risk of hospitalization, 24-hour crisis line, social rehabilitation residential services, long-term placement services and referrals to local non-profit organizations that provide additional services.

This branch also provides Adult Protective Services to follow-up on elder abuse reports. In-Home Supportive Services help those who need assistance with daily activities in order to remain safely in their own homes, and the Public Authority keeps a registry that helps In-Home Supportive Services recipients find a screened caregiver to provide those services. The Public Guardian helps citizens who are unable to manage their personal and financial affairs and may require guardianship or conservatorship.

Mental Health Services Act administration is also housed in the Adult Services Branch. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS All new employees are required to have their paycheck directly deposited to a bank account.
