Summary

The Executive Business Partner (EBP) to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) serves as a strategic partner, providing executive-level support while playing a key role in the day-to-day operational support of the Legal organization. This role goes beyond traditional executive administration by supporting legal operations, managing strategic initiatives, coordinating cross-functional priorities, and enabling the CLO and Legal Leadership Team to execute key business objectives.

The role also sees around corners, keeping the Legal function running smoothly and its culture energized. The ideal candidate exercises sound judgment, maintains the highest level of confidentiality, and leverages technology and AI tools to improve operational efficiency and executive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted partner to the Chief Legal Officer, anticipating needs and managing strategic priorities.
  • Champion the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Legal team, seeing around corners to anticipate needs before they surface.
  • Energize team culture through events, recognition, and rituals that keep a global Legal organization connected and engaged.
  • Partner with Legal Operations on business planning, departmental operating rhythms, budget coordination, reporting, and process improvements.
  • Manage cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment, visibility, and successful execution.
  • Prepare executive presentations, Board materials, reports, dashboards, and briefing documents.
  • Own the CLO's complex calendar and executive scheduling, coordinate meetings and communications end to end, and drive follow-up actions to completion.
  • Build strong partnerships across Legal, Executive Leadership, Finance, HR, Compliance, IT, and outside counsel.
  • Analyze business and operational data to provide insights that support executive decision-making.
  • Leverage Microsoft Office and AI-enabled productivity tools to streamline workflows, automate reporting, and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Handle highly confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience supporting C-level or senior executives, preferably within Legal, Compliance, or Corporate functions.
  • Proven excellence in C-suite calendar management, scheduling, travel, and meeting support, which remains a core, hands-on part of this role.
  • Experience supporting legal operations, business operations, executive administration, or strategic project/program management.
  • Experience organizing global team offsites and large-scale team events end to end.
  • Experience compiling and incorporating information for team QBRs, KPIs, and Board materials, including building "closest to the pin" budget forecasts in coordination with FP&A.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex initiatives in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience using AI and automation tools to improve productivity and business processes is preferred, and experience supporting the AI transformation of a legal function is a real plus.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
