Position Summary

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for all aspects of financial accounting and reporting as a member of the senior executive team responsible for driving business strategy and profit growth. The CFO will bring insightful analysis, process, reporting, metrics, and discipline control to drive continuous margin improvement. This role leads all aspects of finance, including accounting, reporting, forecasting, and financial operations, while also owning client economics, margin optimization, and the financial infrastructure required to scale the firm.

This position requires a highly motivated self-starter who possesses strong initiative and the ability to complete multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment and can build scalable processes, strengthen financial discipline, and serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. Critical outcomes include supporting the executive team with key financial information and operational analytics, driving a culture of accountability in managing the business, adding value to operating businesses, and voicing well-substantiated dissenting opinions.


Job Essentials, Responsibilities, Duties


STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP AND PLANNING

  • Integrate tax, accounting, and financial advisory insights into firm-wide and client-level decision-making.
  • Partner with Business Management teams to align billing with services, ensure profitability, and support complex client situations.
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans and develop financial and tax strategies.
  • Manage capital requests and budgeting processes.
  • Develop performance measures that support the firm’s strategic direction.
  • Implement operational best business practices.
  • Oversee financial performance and structural integrity across client entities.

FINANCIAL AND OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Manage third parties to which functions have been outsourced (payroll, systems, banking).
  • Recruit, lead, manage, assess and help build a high-performance team and growth culture based on providing value to customers, direct communication, compliance and accountability.
  • Analyze all client engagement economics to determine current and future headcount budgets partnering with HR to determine staffing, talent, and other people-related needs while ensuring the company maintains margins.
  • Provide key leadership in corporate and operational financial functions including financial and operational control; business integration; planning, forecasting and analysis; cash flow; taxes; and corporate development.
  • Oversee financial performance across complex, multi-entity client structures, ensuring alignment between engagement terms, service delivery, and profitability.
  • Partner closely with Business Management teams to optimize client economics, billing accuracy, and resource allocation.

REPORTING, ANALYTICS & PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual) and management insights
  • Lead financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis
  • Monitor business performance against budget and strategic goals, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Implement tools, systems, and dashboards to enhance reporting, efficiency, and decision-making


RISK MANAGEMENT & COMPLIANCE

  • Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and regulatory compliance processes
  • Oversee audits, filings, and financial reporting accuracy
  • Manage risk across financial operations, legal exposure, and industry-specific considerations
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with government, tax, and audit requirements

SYSTEMS, PROCESS & INFRASTRUCTURE

  • Lead implementation and optimization of financial systems, tools, and ERP platforms
  • Drive automation and process improvement across accounting, billing, and reporting
  • Ensure data accuracy, system integrity, and operational scalability
  • Oversee complex billing structures across clients, ensuring accurate revenue capture

REPORTING

  • Ensure the issuance of financial reporting packages (annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly deliverables).
  • Oversee the establishment of ad hoc financial modeling as needed and production of budgets and forecasts.
  • Establish financial and operating metrics to measure performance.
  • Identify, implement, and manage tools to increase efficiency to increase client profitability and revenue forecasting.
  • Review monthly results, identify trends, assess if budget for the year is achievable, identify significant variations and potential impact on operations and headcount, as well as Tri Star profitability and client margin goals.

RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the firm’s risk profile.
  • Monitor all open legal issues affecting the industry.
  • Ensure appropriate and reliable control systems are in place.
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
  • Monitor cash projections and forecasts and arrange for debt and equity financing.
  • Experience in capital raises and deal structure.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to reliably commute to and report to the Tri Star office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with CFP, CPA, or CMA designations.
  • Strong academic record.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience, at least five of which are in the entertainment or music industry. Candidates should have experience partnering with an executive team and possess high-level written and oral communication skills.
