What this job involves:

As a Sr. Critical Environments Chief Engineer at JLL, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all engineering operations for a designated client. You will lead a team of engineers, technicians, and vendors to ensure effective maintenance activities and continuous operation of all building systems including fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls) electrical (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, primary switch gear), lighting and temperature controls systems, critical environments, and general building repairs. Your primary objective will be to maintain and optimize the performance and efficiency of the client's facilities, while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

This rolerequires a strong engineering background, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders. A successful candidate will be an assertive engineering leader who can communicate effectively while understanding the complexities of a cross functional organization and balances business needs with sound maintenance practices.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the engineering team to drive operational excellence in maintaining critical building systems and equipment.
  • Oversee the planning, organization, and prioritization of work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and projects to ensure timely execution while meeting quality standards.
  • Accountable for all hard services and critical infrastructure KPIs/SLAs and compliance measures.
  • Responsible for the creation, adherence, and review of work task administration such as methods of procedures (MOPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), emergency operating procedures (EOPs), job hazard assessments (JHAs), and applicable work permits.
  • Key stakeholder in the development, training, and implementation of all Business Continuity Plans (BCPs), and incident management and preparedness programming.
  • Effective use and management of the CMMS system to document all work activities, asset maintenance records, and vendor maintenance and invoicing.
  • Responsible for hard service quality assurance programming.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to secure best-in-class service delivery and cost-effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the client's buildings, systems, and equipment to identify potential issues and ensure compliance.
  • Implement energy-efficient initiatives, sustainability practices, and green building programs to optimize resource utilization and reduce operating costs.
  • Manage the budget for engineering services, ensuring adherence to financial targets, and providing cost forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with the client, internal stakeholders, and external partners to understand their needs and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Drive the implementation of technology solutions, automation, and innovation to improve operational efficiency and enhance the client's experience.
  • Compliance with all EHS, local health and safety regulations, and client engineering standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in building engineering, maintenance, and critical environments/infrastructure.
  • Proven experience managing a team of engineers or technicians.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and compliancerequirements.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other related software.
  • Willingness to work off shift and weekends as needed to support emergencies or planned initiatives

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Experience working in a similar role within the commercial real estate industry.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets effectively.
  • Proven ability to implement technology solutions and drive innovation in engineering operations.
