Job description

We are partnered with a rapidly growing data and analytics technology company that provides advanced market intelligence solutions for the real estate and mortgage industries. Their platform aggregates, models, and analyzes large volumes of public and private transaction data related to mortgages, loans, and property titles, delivering actionable insights to real estate professionals and financial organizations.

They are seeking a Data / Software Engineer to take ownership of a mission-critical analytics platform that serves as a key strategic product within the organization. This role offers the unique opportunity to work directly with the CTO during an extensive knowledge transfer period before becoming the primary technical owner of the platform. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, confident in their technical decisions, and comfortable providing and receiving direct feedback in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture, development, and long-term technical direction of the company's core data analytics platform (30%)
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that process large volumes of real estate, mortgage, and title transaction data (25%)
  • Develop and enhance backend applications and services using Python (20%)
  • Design and optimize data warehousing solutions, database performance, and data models within PostgreSQL environments (10%)
  • Build and maintain scalable event-driven data pipelines utilizing Kafka and cloud-native infrastructure (10%)
  • Collaborate closely with the CTO and business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into scalable technical solutions (5%)

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a hybrid Data/Software Engineering role
  • Strong Python development experience with the ability to design and maintain production-grade applications
  • Extensive experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data processing workflows
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience working with Kafka or similar streaming/event-driven technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and AWS cloud services
  • Experience designing scalable data architectures and making technical decisions independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex data challenges
  • Comfortable operating in a highly visible ownership role with significant autonomy and accountability
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to challenge ideas, provide feedback, and collaborate directly with executive leadership

The Offer

  • Competitive base salary and benefits package
  • Direct mentorship and knowledge transfer from the CTO
  • Opportunity to become the primary owner of a highly strategic analytics platform
  • Significant influence over architecture, technology decisions, and product direction
  • Hybrid work environment in Smyrna, GA
  • Initial onboarding period with increased onsite collaboration (3-4 days per week for approximately 3-4 months), transitioning to onsite Mondays and Wednesdays thereafter
  • High-impact role with strong visibility across leadership and the business
