Position Summary
As a Meat Cutter at Organic Roots, you are responsible for providing a high level of customer service, practicing safe food handling procedures and product knowledge. This position performs various cuts of meat items including, but not limited to: beef, chicken, pork and veal. The Meat cutter will also have stocking, cleaning and merchandising responsibilities in the meat department.
Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:
  • Assist in training new and current team members.
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.
  • Establish and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Assist the Meat Manager as needed.
Customer Service:
  • Ensure excellent customer service by setting a high standard for team members.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Resolving customer issues to maintain customer satisfaction.
Operations Management:
  • Execute day-to-day operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Development and implementation of operational strategies.
  • Take initiative and communicate ideas with your manager.
Administrative Duties:
  • Revised break schedules and timekeeping logs for accurate records, reports, and documentation.
  • Help with the ordering and receiving of supplies and merchandise.
  • Assist with managing employee schedules by setting a foundation and utilizing labor to meet the department needs and standards.
Sales and Performance:
  • Assist in driving sales by helping in all implementations of a profitable structure.
  • Monitor sales performance and suggest improvements when necessary.
  • Helping with duties of other employees (e.g., cleaning, dishwasher, dept clerk responsibilities, etc.) when necessary, because of an unexpected absence or extra volume
Training and Development:
  • Training team members.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and share knowledge with the team.
  • Identify opportunities for skill development and growth within the team.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstration of sufficient reading and math skills to read manuals and prepare computer reports as required; college degree preferred.
  • Previous meat department experience preferred.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends over time, and holidays as required.
  • Excellent customer service to treat patrons like family.
  • Strong communication skills to train and motivate employees.
  • Strong time management skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties and prepare reports according to schedule.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee regularly comes into contact with water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood, and produce items. The employee is frequently required to wash hands. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
