Description of Job Duties
Note that all functions described below must be performed, and it is normally the responsibility of the individual in this position to perform them and/or see that they are performed.
1. Provide reliable transportation to and from North Central College to Smyser Elementary school in Chicago, utilizing a 15-passenger vehicle, following the course schedule for EDUC 362/EDUC 401.
2. Facilitate a safe and secure transportation line for Education department students, faculty, and staff.
3. Perform vehicle maintenance inspections to determine exterior and interior damages prior to assuming responsibility of the vehicle. Complete a safety inspection and an operational inspection of the shuttle.
4. Promptly report all safety and security concerns relative to the shuttle vehicle and designated shuttle locations to the Transportation Safety and Parking Coordinator.
5. Communicate with the Transportation Safety and Parking Coordinator and request assistance for any policy enforcement.
6. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students, and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
7. Perform all cleaning and COVID-19-related sanitizing duties as required by Campus Safety, Transportation Services, and/or the Department of Education.
8. Other duties as appropriately assigned.

Job Qualifications
An individual in this position must possess the proficiency, wherewithal and knowledge of principles and processes for providing high-quality service to both internal and external constituents of the College.
โ€ข Current North Central College student in good standing with GPA of 2.0 or higher
โ€ข Enrolled in EDUC 460/401
โ€ข Valid and unencumbered U.S. driver's license
โ€ข Successful completion of driving history background check and online safe driving course at time of hire and annually thereafter
โ€ข Excellent driving and interpersonal skills
โ€ข Ability to quickly analyze complex, sensitive, and/or hazardous situations, and quickly devise solutions and action plans
โ€ข Ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and decision-making
โ€ข Ability to hear and see acutely during day and night-time conditions
โ€ข Prior experience in driving large passenger vehicles and transporting passengers is preferred
