Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Cloud Engineer - Cloud Optimization through June 30th, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time).

Overview:

Support the design and development of cloud-native FinOps platform capabilities, with a focus on API-driven services, modern web applications, and foundational automation across Azure environments. Contribute to building consistent, scalable solutions across FinOps services, data pipelines, and application layers under the guidance of senior engineers and technical leads.

The FinOps Optimization platform is a multi-year enterprise initiative designed to deliver standardized, scalable capabilities for cloud cost visibility, automation, and intelligent optimization. The platform enables continuous innovation, reduces manual intervention through automation, improves cost efficiency, and lowers total cost of ownership across the enterprise cloud landscape.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the development of FinOps platform services, including APIs, backend services, and front-end applications
  • Support implementation of features related to cost analytics, optimization recommendations, and automation workflows
  • Assist in developing and integrating basic AI-driven or automation capabilities under guidance of senior engineers
  • Follow enterprise architecture standards, API governance practices, and secure development principles
  • Participate in building and deploying applications using modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines
  • Develop and test code using C#, React, and Python, with a focus on writing clean, maintainable code
  • Assist in containerizing applications using Docker and supporting cloud-native deployment models
  • Support integration of cloud cost, usage, and telemetry data from APIs and systems
  • Participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization of applications
  • Collaborate with product, FinOps, and engineering teams to deliver features aligned with business objectives
  • Participate in code reviews and continuously improve technical skills and engineering practices
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing across the team

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in software engineering, application development, or internships in related fields
  • Basic programming experience in:
  • C# / .NET
  • JavaScript (React)
  • Python
  • Foundational understanding of APIs (REST, JSON) and web-based application development
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred) or willingness to learn cloud-native development
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle and agile practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to cloud services (Azure, AWS, or GCP) through coursework, projects, or internships
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) or DevOps concepts
  • Basic knowledge of APIs, microservices, or event-driven architectures
  • Exposure to AI/ML concepts, scripting, or automation tools
  • Interest in FinOps, cloud cost optimization, or data-driven decision-making
  • FinOps Foundation Certification (or willingness to obtain)
