Job description

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Advisor, Regulatory located inDenver or Greeley, CO, United States, through6/26/ 2026,at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Provides strategic direction and subject matter expertise on federal, state and local regulatory frameworks and rulemaking affecting Shale & Tight Business (S&TB) operations in Colorado. The role requires deep expertise in Colorado environmental and operational regulatory programs, policy development, compliance planning and stakeholder engagement. This role involves state-level legislative and regulatory advocacy, including reviewing and shaping proposed rules, representing the company in regulatory and industry forums and providing expert guidance on emerging regulatory issues and potential business impacts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead development of regulatory strategies for Chevron S&TB Colorado operations to anticipate and mitigate regulatory risks.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and counsel on current and proposed federal, state and local environmental and operational regulations; includes analyzing proposed regulations, assessing complex regulatory applicability scenarios, evaluating potential business impacts, and advising on advocacy and compliance pathways.

  • Partner with Operations, HSE, Corporate Affairs, Land, Legal, Engineering and Project Teams to facilitate development of regulatory alternatives and strategies and ensure business stakeholders are kept informed of relevant regulatory/policy developments.

  • Maintain strong relationships with government agencies and community stakeholders.

  • Represent the company on industry trade associations to shape consistent, practical regulatory policies and advance company positions.

  • Support Enterprise-level issue management for federal regulatory matters, identifying high priority issues and shaping advocacy strategies.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as STEM, environmental science, law, engineering, or natural resource management.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience supporting oil and gas and environmental regulatory advocacy and compliance, with demonstrated expertise in Colorado regulations (e.g. ECMC, CDPHE).

  • Technical depth in federal and state regulatory programs for upstream oil and gas operations

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex regulatory scenarios and technical information to deliver clear, decisive guidance.

  • Direct experience engaging Colorado regulators and navigating the state's evolving energy and environmental policy landscape.

  • Demonstrated success advancing regulatory advocacy strategies and representing organizations in industry and trade associations.

  • Strong track record of building and maintaining trusted relationships with regulatory agencies and community stakeholders.

  • Experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams at multiple organizational levels.

  • Accountable and results-oriented, able to manage competing priorities and regulatory deadlines.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address complex regulatory challenges

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate regulatory outcomes and business impacts to internal and external stakeholders
