Position Summary

Chevron is seeking a visionary and results-driven leader to join our Commercial Analytics team. This high-impact role is pivotal in shaping the analytical strategy that underpins Chevron's global trading operations. The successful candidate will lead a team of analysts, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and cross-regional collaboration-driving greater value creation through actionable and profitable insights, as well as championing advanced digital tools and models.

Key Responsibilities

Inspire and lead a high-performing team of commercial analysts, setting clear expectations and cultivating a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and innovation

Drive strategic insight by overseeing analysis of market fundamentals, pricing structures, trade flows, and competitor activity to inform trading strategies and unlock commercial opportunities

Foster global collaboration by partnering with analysts and traders across Houston, San Ramon, Singapore, and London to align on arbitrage strategies, supply/demand modeling, and market positioning

Advance analytical capabilities by guiding the development and deployment of deterministic and dynamic models that identify and quantify trading opportunities across physical and financial markets

Champion digital innovation by promoting adoption of advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling, and AI to enhance trading performance and uncover untapped value

Embed risk intelligence by integrating quantitative risk management methodologies into trading decisions and exposure strategies

Promote continuous improvement by leading lookback reviews, evaluating forecast accuracy, and refining analytical approaches based on outcomes

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Applied Math, Data Science, or related field

Minimum 7 years of experience in energy trading, commodity markets, or commercial analytics

Minimum 2 years of direct people leadership or team management experience

Strong commercial judgment with the ability to translate complex data into actionable, trade-relevant recommendations

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present market insights clearly to influence decisions at all levels

Collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, global trading environment with a digital-first mindset and passion for innovation

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree or MBA

Proficiency in Excel and at least one of Python/SQL; experience with visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)

Experience with advanced modeling platforms (Databricks, DataRobot, Dataiku)

Prior experience in a trading house, energy major, or commodity-focused analytics organization

Cross-commodity expertise spanning crude, products, natural gas, LNG, or shipping
