Lab Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Assistant to routinely produce high-quality, small-scale chemical products used in DNA/RNA synthesis. This role involves handling regulated waste and actively participating in the Hazardous Spill Response Team. The successful candidate will utilize an ERP system to create work orders, transfer material, and manage inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality chemical products for DNA/RNA synthesis.
  • Handle regulated waste and participate in the Hazardous Spill Response Team.
  • Utilize ERP systems for work order creation, material transfer, and inventory management.
  • Troubleshoot process issues related to quality, delivery, or other KPIs.
  • Collaborate with team members to produce reagent chemicals, media, and other lab supplies.

Essential Skills

  • Chemical handling and laboratory experience.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in unit conversions and measurements.
  • Basic lab experience and familiarity with manufacturing processes.
  • Quality control skills.
  • Technical skills with proficiency in Excel, SAP, and other computer-based programs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • High School Diploma and 1-2 years of lab experience required.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50lbs and exert 100lbs of force.
  • Capability to be fitted for a respirator post-offer.

Work Environment

This position requires working Sunday through Thursday from 8pm to 6:30am, with training likely occurring on the day shift for the first few weeks. The role emphasizes teamwork in a dynamic lab setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coralville, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.95 - $25.57/hr.
