Job description

Position Title: Chemist
Reports to: Lab Manager of Analytical
Location: Buford, GA
FLSA Status: Exempt

The Chemist role is responsible for routine testing of finished product and raw materials for nutritional content. The chemist will also be an integral part of laboratory expansion efforts by aiding in method development and validation projects.
The position will report to the Laboratory Manager. The position is a Full-time onsite role, Monday-Friday, from our headquarters office in Buford, GA.
General Job Responsibilities:
  • Follow internal and compendial methodology to analyze finished products and raw materials.
  • Interpret results generated by variety of analytical instrumentation.
  • Assist with method validation and method development as needed.
  • Participate in the peer review of analytical notebooks, COAs and data entry.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HPLC, LC/MS, ICP-MS and other scientific instrumentation.
  • Maintain calibration and verification logs for balances and the pH meter.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field of study.
  • Experience with ICP-MS instrumentation
  • At least 2 years prior experience as a Chemist or equivalent title.
  • Basic lab skills such as accurate weighing, mixing and dilution of materials by utilizing laboratory balances and glassware.
  • Previous experience with method validation and/or development is required.
  • Keen attention to detail and scientific documentation skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work independently, as well as part of a team.
