Job description

Position: Assistant Mill Chemist

Reports to: Mill Chemist

Salary Range: 65k -75k DOE plus monthly and quarterly incentive pay

FLSA: Salaried Exempt

The primary objectives are to assist Mill Chemist by providing professional and technical expertise to improve the efficiency of our operational systems, improve the quality of our products, and find more cost effective ways to meet these goals while reducing cost.

Job Description

  • Monitor chemical dosing, Manage Chemical inventory and Lab equipment.
  • Monitors the specifications of the Paper product and be a responsible member of the Chemical and quality Dept.
  • Assess and make judgment of any problems that may arise chemically within the Mill.
  • Promotes all areas of safety and quality.
  • Plays a crucial part for the Manufacturing Team,
  • Report and discuss all matters that may be of concern to the Mill Chemist
  • He or She will act as a Mill Chemist in his/her absence
  • Will be on Call as per schedule

Requirements

  • BS in ChE or Paper Sciences
  • Must have excellent communication Skills
  • Previous manufacturing Skill is a Plus
  • Basic computer skills

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

REGISTRATIONS:

  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
