Join Shook Construction as a Construction Operations Co-Op!

At Shook Construction, our Co-ops learn by doing. You’ll work on real construction projects, spend time in the field, and work alongside experienced construction professionals. You’ll also have an assigned mentor who will help you learn the business, answer your questions, and give you opportunities to contribute to the project team.

We utilize co-ops in our preconstruction efforts as well as with construction engineering tasks on current educational, healthcare, industrial, and water resource projects. Co-ops who return for multiple work terms with Shook gain exposure to different construction opportunities.

What will you get out of it?

An ideal candidate should also be committed to service, as we are laser-focused on our Mission, To Dramatically Improve the Communities We Serve. Through our various community outreach pillars, opportunities abound to play a role in giving back to the communities where we live, work, and play.

Essential Duties

Your experience will depend on your project and assignment, but you’ll have opportunities to learn and perform the following activities:

  • Project Estimating tasks such as quantity take-offs, pricing items of work, price and quotation solicitation, bid analysis, good faith effort documentation and compilation of job cost data.

Reporting Relationships

  • Position reports to an Assigned Mentor, which could be any one of the following: Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, Estimating Manager, Lead Estimator, and/or Project Estimator for specific task assignments.
