Job description

We are currently seeking a Product Designer - Contract for our Houston, TX office. The Product Designer position at FuelQuest is to function as an analyst and designer for all ongoing Fuel Management System projects. The product designer will work with all areas of FMS including Inventory Management, Environmental Compliance, Order Management and Financial Management.

The product designer is expected to take leadership in defining design standards and working to resolve issues with all Fuel Management products. The primary responsibilities include: Attend weekly development status meetings and other release management status meetings as needed. Provide weekly updates to design team management on the status of designs and any issues encountered.

Work with QA to assist their understanding with the design and ensure that their test plans will adequately test the new enhancements to FMS. Work in collaboration with the Product Management team to obtain and understand the requirements, use cases and business scenarios. Discuss completed designs with Product Management and where necessary in customer meetings as a checkpoint to move onto development.

Work with Professional Services to ensure that product capability is utilized correctly and any new product requests are aligned with the current capabilities. Work with Development to ensure their understanding of the designs and the planned technical specs to be confident that development efforts will achieve the design and business requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Background in software development including C# or Java is a plus.

Experience with and knowledge of supply chain software for motor fuel. Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment. Ability to take initiative and own a problem or concept and drive to a solution.

Knowledge of database management systems - Oracle and / or SQL Server is a plus. Excellent documentation skills - ability to explain complex software functionality from a functional and technical perspective. Ability to serve as lead designer for complex supply chain software efforts related to fuel management.

Ability to effectively communicate functional concepts to other staff members across all teams and to external clients. Ability to interface well with teams across the organization, including Professional Services, Development, Sales, Product Management and Marketing. Minimum Qualifications, Education Requirements: Familiar with the Software Development Life Cycle.

Proven experience in motor fuel supply chain issues. 4-6 years' experience in software design and analysis. Expert Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Visio.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, finance, accounting or related field preferred.
